Moore: You’re right. There was nothing I could do, no matter how hard I struggled… I was assimilated, and I get to live with that. ::He sighed a little bit:: The best I can do now, is make sure my friends, my family, are ready to face that threat, and any others we might come across.
Ikaia nodded.
Wong: Realistically, the only way through this is forward.
Moore: Even if there are situations out of our hands, it doesn't mean we don’t train and make sure we’re ready to deal with those situations. Excogita, apta, supera.
Ikaia tilted his head curiously.
Wong: I can’t say I’m familiar with my Latin, Moore.
Moore: Saying from the Tactical School. Excogita, apta, supera. Improvise, Adapt, and Overcome. It is the motto of the tactical school, at least when I was in. It reminds us to keep thinking, adapt to the situation as it changes, and always strive to overcome it, because we’re Starfleet Tactical, and we can always find a way to overcome. Excogita, apta, supera.
Ikaia could sense it. The walls were starting to come back up. This moment of vulnerability had the fleeting nature of fog on glass. It was starting to fade. Perhaps Moore isn’t ready yet?
Wong: Ah. Your central mantra, right?
Moore: I know what the Borg did to me has left its scars, and I will have a lifetime to live with that, but I will adapt, and I will overcome it, so I’m fine. ::Giving Wong a slight smile.:: But if you want me to explore this medically, then I will be open to it, but for right now; would you be open to finishing this re-qualification? Think of it as my way to protect my ohana.
Wong: We can explore this in depth later if you’d like. When you’re ready.
Moore: Good, now grab that rifle, and let’s set up. Ikaia blinked for a moment. Perhaps it wasn’t a good idea for him to pick of the rifle right away.

Moore wouldn’t stop grinning.
