((Blue Line Train, heading towards Peace Park Station))

Aurelio: Mom joined Starfleet because a friend thought she’d be really good at it. My dad did because his little brother went missing. ::He wiggled around on the seat a little and then looked up at Wil.:: That’s who I’m named after.

Wil smiled, and Aurelio froze for a second.

Ukinix: You know, I’ve met your dad. We served together for a little while. We had lots of fun together.

Aurelio took a deep breath and then relaxed. He didn’t want to cause another weird incident around Wil.

Aurelio: That sounds like him.

Ukinix: How is he?

Aurelio: He was ok last I heard. We haven’t talked all that much lately.

He shrugged. His dad had had a really hard time around when he was born and it wasn’t as if his mom had expected the both of them to stay together forever. And Aurelio had lots of other people who cared about him.

Even if he did still want those lessons on fire dancing.

Ukinix: Maybe we could invite him out to Amity for a visit? Go surfing on Idrustix?

Aurelio: Uh, sure? It’s a really long trip though.

Would it have been nice to see his dad? Of course. But he didn’t expect everyone to be willing to travel that far. It was still a really nice surprise that Taelon had come all the way out there.

Wil seemed to glance around for a moment, thinking about…something. Aurelio had no idea what.

But then Aurelio was back to thinking about ice cream and that was much better than worrying.

((Cream Of The Ice - Ground floor, Grand Mezzanine - A few minutes later))

The building was mostly made of glass, flowing until it almost looked like ice, and the sign was one of those shades of purple that so many of the places on Amity used because it matched the nebula.

Aurelio really did need to talk to Taelon about that more.

The ice cream inside was also displayed behind glass, a whole bunch of colorful little containers with some names Aurelio recognized. And a lot he didn’t. So maybe he got to learn more about ice cream.

That one wasn’t on any of the class plans but learning all sorts of things was still important. He took another step closer and looked into the glass. He hadn’t known ice cream could come in those shades of orange.

Ukinix: So, aurelio, seventy-two to choose from. Single or double scoop?

Aurelio: Double! ::He looked over at the scoop.:: I haven’t had any extra snacks today yet.

Ukinix: No worries. And what are you going to pick?

Aurelio: Uttaberry and uh…double chocolate.

He could have chocolate just fine, but his mom didn’t usually keep it set up in the replicator.

Aurelio got a smile and a nod from the Andorian before she turned to Wil.

Attendant: And for you, Commander?

Ukinix: Yeah, I’ll go double... ::looking at flavours:: one matcha, one Belgian chocoloate.

Aurelio wasn’t sure what a matcha was. Green, apparently, from the display case. Maybe he’d have to try it next time. He wasn’t going to run out of flavors anytime soon.

Attendant: Excellent. ::Moving to grab two cones:: Coming right up. Grab a seat, I’ll bring them over.

Ukinix: Thanks. Oh, and put them on the FDC account too, thanks mate.

Attendant: Of course.

Aurelio looked over at Wil and did a perfect little eyebrow raise. If Wil had moved out of Starfleet it felt like something he’d have heard about. Well, that the entire station would have heard about.

Ukinix: Ah, I like to keep Consul Ukinix on her toes sometimes. Which seat would you like?

Aurelio: By the windows. There’s always something new around out here.

Ukinix: Response

Aurelio sprawled out on his seat and looked out the window, not quite pressing his nose to it.

Aurelio: Did you invite me for ice cream because you know my dad?

He looked back to Wil and smiled; he was still getting ice cream out of all of this, even if he didn’t understand everything that was going on behind the scenes. And it did seem like Wil was interested in listening to him. It didn’t matter so much why that had started.

Ukinix: Response

Aurelio: Well, I don’t think you’re doing this to set me up with a bonding ceremony. ::he shrugged:: Mom’s been really busy, so I should remind her about that.

He sat up all straight and proper for a second and then flopped back in the seat. He was seven. Which was the proper age, at least for Vulcans.

Ukinix: Response
