Seleya: Good job, take your time to rest, I will just start putting some weights on to prepare. No rush though.
Seleya walked over to the weight racks grabbing about 60 kgs more, then debating before adding another 10 more kgs. Still not wanting to overdo it, but her hopes were to still impress Robin and show off a bit as she returned to the bars to begin racking the weights.
Hopper: Holy buckets! ::Eying the weight setting incredulously:: 130 kilos? Is that, ahem, normal for a Kazleti with your build? ::Brow furrowing, blushing slightly:: Oh, I don’t mean that in any sort of– I just mean, that’s quite a lot. Obviously a lot more than I typically lift.
Seleya: Are you comfortable spotting that much weight? We have safety at the very worst.
Hopper: Well, considering I’m not the one benching it, we should be alright – and I can always adjust the weights down as needed…
Hopper: ::A reassuring smile:: Don’t worry, you’re safe in my hands, Lieutenant.
Seleya returned the smile and then sat on the bench leaning back, her chest under the bar. Seleya placed her hands on the bar and lifted it up with a slight grunt. The weight was not anything she couldn’t handle, though she was pushing herself a little given she was still in recovery. Would have been better if she was at her peak.
Seleya: Thank you, Commander. And to answer your question. It’s above average for my species. Kazleti have typical human strength. But I’ve been weight lifting since my early teens. ::She paused as she did her first rep:: Plus being in tac/sec in the Academy got to try to be.. ::another pause for second rep:: competitive with species that are naturally stronger.
It was also important for Seleya, given her genetic condition to stay in shape, but she didn’t need to get into that when trying to impress the Commander.
Hopper: What’s your typical routine like, Lieutenant? Other than weight-lifting?
Seleya: Cardio, plenty of stretching, meditation exercises, core training, and various martial arts. ::Another rep:: I try to cycle through different exercises.
Hopper: Well, there are so many options when it comes to keeping fit. Running, swimming, cycling…
Seleya: There are.. ::She lets out a long breath as she pushes up the bar:: Plus hiking when I get the chance. Like I said, I’ve been exercising since my early teens. Plus I had to get the Heritage Guard Bootcamp.
Hopper: Response
Seleya: Were you very active prior to Starfleet? Got any favorite physical activities yourself?
Seleya’s breathing was calm and controlled, having done this thousands of times as she slowly bench pressed the weights with control, building up a light sweat.
Hopper: Response
Seleya: Can you help guide me into the rack?
Seleya could probably guide it in herself, but her hope was to impress Robin more by letting her get more of a feel for the weight.
