((Cargo Hold, VSW Resurgence, Underspace Corridor))
Drakth: There!
She had finally found the stowaway that had boarded her vessel somewhere on or near Devinon V. As she pointed at the Starfleet officer, her military detail opened fire, launching a volley upon the uniformed woman with sleeve tattoos and tentacles for hair.
Seleya had just turned the corner, thinking she had just escaped, only to run into two more Vaadwuar officers. She quickly ducked around the corner she came from as the shots were fired. Once behind cover she took out her type-1 phaser.
One member of that military detail was Gesagek. He had been there with Drakth from the beginning, and was enjoying the opportunity to test his latest rapid-fire disruptor.
Gesagek: After her!
Seleya: Vyrk
Seleya started running back down the row of crates she had just come from to find a better defensive position, turning back to fire a blind shot behind her to create more space and buy time to round the next corner into cover.
The Vaadwaur who had lived under the archaic restriction of Starfleet on Devinon V had secretly, over the decades, slowly built a secret underground weapons factory right under the noses of the United Federation of Planets.
As they became bigger, more efficient, and slowly but surely expanded operations, they had started funneling weapons via Underspace back to the Delta Quadrant, to the small colonies that had formed after Voyager had released them from stasis. It had been over 900 years since the Vaadwaur had ruled many systems of the Delta Quadrant, and with the Borg in its currently weakened state, opportunity arose.
Nobody knew the Underspace corridors like the Vaadwuar did. The Turei had tried, but had failed to know the extent of them - and they still struggled to keep them maintained.
It was time for the Supremacy’s comeback into the Delta Quadrant, with modernised ships and weapons.
But this Starfleet officer, poking their nose where they shouldn’t have been, was a spanner in the works. And now, all she wanted was them dead, so that they could not warn Starfleet of the weapons they were smuggling on board her Miracle Worker Juggernaut class vessel.
Drakth: Come out! There is no escape.
Seleya: I appreciate the offer, but I am not really in the mood to get shot.
Gesagek laughed. A sly, polite laugh, like he had known the Alpha Quadrant species of Cardassian to.
Drakth: Ha! We are in underspace. You will not get far.
Gesagek: Exit the tunnel prematurely and you will be torn to shreds. And there will be nothing for your starfleet friends to find.
Getting shot by Vaadwuar, or ripped apart in the subspace corridor. She would have to consider which sounded more tempting. But right now, she needed to buy time before they called in reinforcements and surrounded her. But they did make a good point, she would need to drop the ship out of subspace before she could leave.
Gesagek noticed some warning flash on a console before that very thing happened.
Drakth was flown from her feet as the ship took an almighty blow. Lights faded before returning, revealing sparks and spot fires that had broken out in the cargo hold.
Seleya being caught off guard from the alert was thrown from her feet as well, some smaller crates and barrels landing on top of it. Hopefully it would be just some bruising. Seleya started pushing the mess off of her. Then she realized her type-1 had been knocked out of her hands from the shake.
oO Just audit some shipping records, it’s just a simple ship inspection. It will be quiet my riqari. Oo
Drakth reached for her head where an almighty bruise was forming on her head.
Drakth: This is why I told our navigator not to take a shortcut through the unused corridors! The Turei have left them a mess.
Seleya cursed herself up, cursing more in Karutin. She saw the other two Vaadwuar were also knocked down and took this opportunity to make a dash to the cargo hold exit. Now armed only with a baton, she was at a severe disadvantage.
From his own position on the floor, Gesagek began firing again. But for a man who was seeing double and still trying to recover from the blow, his shots were ill-aimed.
Seleya ducked behind a few more fallen over crates as she heard the disruptor bolts fly past her. She quickly caught her breath. The cargo hold entrance is still a good 50 meters away.
Drakth: Get her!
Gesagek pulled himself up, and began running after the Kazleti. There was a thirst for power in his eyes.
Gesagek: Federation spy!
Seleya peaked out from her cover to see the Vaadwuar male charging her position. Not wanting to give him a clear shot she started running down the row parallel to the entrance. Trying to duck in and out of the overturned crates to maintain cover, hoping she could split them apart now.
Drakth: Where are you going to go?!
Drakth let off a round of fire from her own weapon, but missed the Starfleet officer.
Once Seleya had gotten suitable cover she ran closer to the entrance, trying to to inch her way to the entrance, knowing the two would probably be trying to cut her off. She tried to get out of sight in the chaos of the cargo hold. Crouching down.
Seleya: I have heard the Vaadwuar -were- proud warriors.
Seleya shouted out trying to taunt them into a response, hoping to get a sense of their directions. Her Ny’krl could pick up their footsteps, but it was mixed in with the rushing around the ship, it was hard to discern for certain. She needed a noise that was easier for her Ny’krl to distinguish.
Drakth: ::sneering:: Our time is returning, Starfleet. Your days of occupation and expansion are coming to an end.
Gesagek: We once ruled the galaxy. And we will again.
Once she heard their response she stayed crouched down, trying to hide as much as a 6’2” bright blue Kazleti among a ship of Vaadwuar could as she ducked in and out of rows, using the cargo as cover.
Seleya: My people have a proud warrior history as well. Don’t suppose we could set down the disruptors and settle this face to face. Unless you need those disruptors to feel safe from me.
Seleya tried taunting again. She was getting close to the cargo hold exit. But she was starting to think her chances of beating them unarmed were better than getting out of the cargo hold without getting shot, and she did not feel like explaining another disruptor wound to the Valkyrie doctors. They were military trained, and she was sure they were trying to box her in. She just needed their pride to win over smart decision making.
More sparks flew from multiple places on the ceiling of the cargo bay, as the light flickered on and off once more-- and kept flickering. There was another shudder throughout the hull, that reverberated a deep, rattling sound echoing through the Cargo Hold.
They were done for.
But at least…
Drakth: ::Yealling out to Seleya:: We are all going to die here, in underspace! Our deaths will be unfortunate… but yours will be satisfactory. The Vaadwuar’s return can’t be stopped now.
Gesagek: I will ensure it!
He made his way closer to the cargo bay exit, trying to hunt the Starfleet officer down. A second blow hit the ship. One from the same angle as the previous. Gesagek took the opportunity to turn down a corridor, checking to see whether their hostage had run off yet. He paused for a moment, watching a crack in the hull of the ship grow across the corridor wall until it had creeped one part too far and suddenly the whole bulkhead was gone, as was the atmosphere, and a weapons engineer was somersaulting through subspace to his cold, dark death.
Darkth held onto the hull as best she could, wondering why the last thing she would see was Lieutenant Gesagek tumbling out into underspace, destroyed by a corridor. As she spotted a flash of blue, and a hint of Starfleet uniform, the pull became too great - Drakth was sucked into the underspace corridor herself.
But there was one last thing she didn’t expect to see before she felt unimaginable forces on her body as her world went black -- an escape pod hurtling away in the opposite direction away from the crumbling VSW Resurgence.
