((Ten Forward Lounge, USS Kitty Hawk))

Ambassador Rivi Vataix enjoyed the view of Amity Outpost from the large windows at the front of the lounge. While Starfleet had since commissioned numerous newer classes and vessels since the Galaxy class in the nearly fifty years since the class was first launched, the blonde Betazoid found herself still drawn into the interior design choices and graceful lines of the ship's hull. It was as if the ship were designed inside and out by someone with a Betazoid's eye.

She looked over as the short-statured captain of the vessel approached her.

Rahman: Madam Ambassador, I hope this is to your needs.

Vataix: Absolutely, Captain. Thank you so much for allowing me to hold the ceremony on your fine vessel.

It was certainly bigger than Captain Rahman's previous ship the Veritas that Rivi had visited in the Shoals all those years ago.

The Kriosian CO nodded.

Rahman: These kind of ceremonies... they're important rituals for the crew.

Rivi couldn't agree more. She returned a warm smile.

Vataix: That they are.

Rahman looked out across the sea of faces. Some were familiar, and quite a number would be joining her and the Kitty Hawk on their way back to Earth.

Rahman: Well, shall we begin then?

Vataix: Oh yes! You have a long trip ahead of you, Captain. I don't want to delay you any further.

The captain gave another nod before gesturing out towards the raised portion of the lounge.

Rahman: The floor is yours.

Rivi called out for Wil to get the ribbons ready that they'd discreetly brought from Amity as she stepped forward before the gathered officers.

Vataix: If I could have your attention, everyone, I have a few important announcements I'd like to make. Recognition, rather, of the diligence with which you all attended to your duties during this past mission.

Any: Response

Rivi called out to the first group of recipients.

Vataix: Nathan Richards, Scotty Reade, Charlene Vanlith, and Bec Iko, please come forward.

As they did so, Rivi took the ribbons from Wil.

Vataix: Having been taken hostage by the extremist Talaxian Marxnos, you all are hereby awarded the Prisoner of War Ribbon.

Richards/Reade/Vanlith/Iko: Response

Vataix: These same officers were tasked with investigating possible sabotage of the Talaxian's mining operations, and through the process, you all discovered indeed the "sabotage cubes" left by some of the Nedic. Thus, each of you are hereby awarded with the Starfleet Investigation Ribbon as well. Congratulations!

Richards/Reade/Vanlith/Iko: Response

Rivi then gestured to Charlena.

Vataix: It was Charlene Vanlith who successfully took apart and analyzed the true purpose of the cubes. For your efforts that led to revelation, you are hereby personally awarded the Captain's Commendation. Congratulations!

Vanlith: Response

After the applause died down, Rivi scanned the room with her gaze until she saw the next batch of recipients.

Vataix: Robin Hopper, Harrison Blackwood, Kaito Moore, and Jansen Orrey, please come forward.

Hopper/Blackwood/Moore/Orrey: Response

Vataix: Having participated in a covert operation to see to the rescue of the hostages, you four are hereby awarded the Intelligence Star. Well-done, all of you.

Hopper/Blackwood/Moore/Orrey: Response

Vataix: Next, I'd like to recognize Ikaia Wong. ::She looked around to find the Klingon.:: Ikaia, for your excellent care and efforts during the Talaxian lung treatment you performed, I hereby see you fit to receive the Legion of Merit. Congratulations!

Wong: Response

Rivi then looked over at Wil and then Robin, smiling as she did so.

Vataix: I want to next recognize my first officer and Starfleet attache Wil Ukinix for his excellent leadership skills throughout the mission. Dare I tell you that you seemed to have left the now former President herself impressed?

Ukinix: Response

Vataix: Regardless, excellent work. Congratulations on earning the Leadership Excellence Ribbon.

Ukinix: Response

Vataix: Next, Robin Hopper. You supported Wil immensely during this past mission, and for that, I believe it's time you officially earned some much needed recognition of your own.

:Hopper: Response

Vataix: Thus, let me be the first to congratulate you with the Superior Support Ribbon.

Hopper: Response

Rivi nodded as she handed the medal and ribbon over to Robin. She then turned back to the rest of the gathered officers.

Vataix: And finally, all crew who participated in the last mission to rescue the Nedic vessel have earned the Peacekeeper Service Ribbon, Congratulations, everyone!

Any: Response

Vataix: All right, everyone, the hard part's over. Those heading back to Earth with Kitty Hawk have a long journey ahead of you, but those six weeks of travel I'm sure will fly by. Meanwhile, those staying on Amity with me will have plenty to work on to keep things running smoothly while you all are away at your big party.

Any: Response

Vataix: I'm disappointed I'm going to miss it.

Rahman: I'd offer to trade, but orders are orders.

Any: Response

Vataix: Until Wil gets back, Robin will be serving in his place as acting first officer of Amity. Robin, Wil, anything you want to add?

Hopper: Response

Ukinix: Response

Any: Response

Rivi smiled as she gave a final look around the room. It felt a little bit like she was sending her child off to university or on a big trip abroad.

Vataix: I'll leave you all with this: I am so looking forward to hearing your stories when you get back about what will surely be *the* memorable event of the century so far. Until then, bon voyage!
