((Bridge, IKS Tambogh Pach))
Ghortok hadn’t been sure about this before the attack on the colony. Well, he’d been very sure, then not sure at all, and then inflamed with the fire of victory. One that hadn’t yet faded.
And didn’t their victories prove the very righteousness of their cause? To prove the weakness of the Federation and those Klingons who tolerated them.
Ushahl: Come around again!
Ghortok: Coming around, Captain. Should I disable their engines?
Ushaul: No! This needs to be an honourable battle!
He stopped with his hand hovering over the controls, then nodded. The Federation hadn’t proven much of a challenge yet, but who was he to question the Captain.
Ushahl: I want to see what they do…
Ghortok: And then we will ensure they die!
That was a much safer train of thought than dwelling on the few points of the Interlink integration that eluded him.
He was interrupted from that thought by incoming communications.
Ukinix: =/\= This is Commander Wil Ukinix, Commanding Officer of the USS Independence-B. We’re Starfleet, in case there’s any confusion. We mean you no harm, we’d just like to talk. =/\=
Ushahl: =/\= HA! All you Starfleets know how to do is talk. =/\=
She gave Ghortok a nod—and a toothy smile.
Ushahl: Scare those PetaQs again.
Ghortok: Deactivating their shields. Life support. Replicators…
He wasn’t sure that one was necessary, but there was a certain thrill to being able to do it. To knowing that he, Ghortok out of nothing and nowhere notable, was making the Federation cower.
Still, they kept enough control of the Independence to dart off behind one of the moons.
Ushahl: HA HA! Cowards! Recloak and follow them. But don’t get too close. We’re still teasing.
Ghortok had gotten slightly used to Usahl coming up behind him and didn't jump, but he still felt the urge to do it every time.
Ghortok: Yes, Captain. Maintaining distance. ::he stared quite pointedly at the myriad of readouts before him.::
Usahl returned to pacing back and forth.
Ushahl: Can the interlink play with their sensor readouts? Subtly?
Ghortok: Yes, Captain! ::he thought slightly better of that:: But I’d need to create the false readouts in our system and share them. Much quicker to just turn off their sensors. Or their lights.
Ushahl: Toy with the Independence. Puzzle them. make them fearful and confused and drop their guard. Then we will reveal our face once again.
Ghortok: They’re getting their systems back online swiftly. Perhaps they’ll be more of a challenge than we thought.
Usahl: Response
The Starfleet ships had a lot of systems to go through. And his own console didn’t always like the interface with Interlink. Redundancies, weird little layers of security that Interlink didn’t have to care about at all, and generally a bunch of tedious details that had made Ghortok wish on occasion that he still had his Daqtagh around for stabbing…something.
But he’d left it there for an important cause. The Federation and all their weak little outposts would know to fear!
At which point his console started to slow down. One of the readings from the Starfleet vessel fragmented, then reestablished itself.
Ghortok: We've got a stronger connection through Interlink, Captain. Setting their sensors to run some maintenance.
It’d slow them down, at least. He took a glance at the information coming in from the Independence; he wanted to see how they struggled in the face of such glorious purpose.
Usahl: Response
A blaring little icon cut off his attempts. Something about an allied ship in distress and moving to assist. He slapped the annoying icon away, which lasted for about five seconds before it returned. And started beeping.
Ghortok: Gah!
Usahl: Response
