((Grand Mezzanine, Amity Outpost))

Ukinix
: ::Impersonation of an English sounding Frenchman:: Captain’s log, stardate seven-one-six-three-alpha-pear-yak-petaQ.  Point seven.  These are the voyages of the starship Batavia.  Its Five-Beer mission: to explore strange, new parts of Amity.  To seek out new tasty craft beers.  To boldly go where no hoverpub has gone before – ::gesturing with chin:: - down those stairs.

Wil gestured to the nearby, fancy polished stairs that led down to the ground floor below the mezzanine.

Ukinix: ::To Teller:: Commander, set a course.  ::To Reade:: Helm, full impulse.  Hold on everyone!

Reade: Aye. Now at full impulse power. Hold on.

Wong: You can’t be seriously thinking of that! On full impulse?!

Teller:  She's a fine ship Captain, she'll manage...I think.  All the same...::Geoff took a firm grip on the counter top::...you might want to grab a hold of something.

Aleksandrov: ::slips her arm through Wong’s:: You did say hold on to something...

It was a bumpy ride down the stairs, to say the least.  Wil’s brain felt like it was trying to escape his ears as his whole body shook.

Ukinix: I-i-t  m-u-u-u-s-t   b-e-e  th-e-e  S-I-F-F-S!

The hover pub rattled down the stairs.  Their new Talaxian friends found the whole episode amusing.  Wil did start to feel a little concerned at the speed they were going at.

Reade: We are totally going super-fast now. Ah. Ideas?

Wong: How about actually slowing down? How about not pulling off anything entirely insane again? I believe this is a pub and NOT a racing shuttle….

Teller: At this speed we can't enjoy the view, Captain!  You can bring me up on mutiny charges if we survive, but I'm slowing this ship down sir! ::Geoff cracked and smile and laughed, then winked to Mr. Reade:: Helm, gentle down to cruising speed, but don't rattle the glassware Mr. Reade.

Aleksandrov: ::sighs sadly:: You spilled my beer!

Ukinix: Hand on chest. *I* didn’t spill your beer Doctor, it was the *stairs*.  But now that we’ve mostly safely made it down to the ground floor - ::To Scotty:: - ahead one quarter impulse, Lieutenant.

Reade: I see, where are we headed Captain?

Wil gestured in a random direction with his hand.

Ukinix: Out there.  Thataway!

Wong: Maaaaybe we shouldn’t head off to the Merchant’s District. Last I saw it, it was under construction.

Any: Response

Teller:  As far as I'm concerned, the destination doesn't matter.  The hoverpub is our little island away from it all and we've got everything we need for a long and peaceful journey.  ::Geoff patted his abruptly rumbling tummy::  That said, I'd eat three or four hasparates and still have room for dessert.

Reade: Oh, that is a good idea.

Teller:  Well Doctor Aleksandrov, you've been on the station longer than any of us.  Can you recommend a spot worth the trip?  Station this size has to have a few hidden gems.

Aleksandrov: Oh do call me Kamoyo. Have you tried Wet Goods yet? They have the best chili cheese fries...

Ukinix: ::Stroking beard, pondering:: Hmm. I did notice that there’s a small replicator behind Ensign Reade, which I’m sure we could load up with some pretty tasty burger programs.  That way we could stay on the hoverpub longer.

oO Plus there is the problem of getting back *up* to the mezzanine…Oo

Reade/Any
: Response

Wong: Wait what? We’re heading there?

Geoff smiled at the silver haired woman and tipped his glass.

Teller:  Sounds just about perfect to me.  Gets my vote, but it's up to ::Geoff cocked his thumb in Wil's direction:: the Captain here.

Aleksandrov: Did I mention the Karaoke bar?

That was the tipping point to allow Wil to make a quick decision.

Ukinix: Kamoyo, you’ve sold me.  ::To Scotty:: Lay in a course for Wet Goods, Mezzanine level!

Reade/Any
: Response

Wong: Second thought, maybe I should consider at most one beer to calm my nerves. But ONLY one. And a light one at that.

Wil began to smirk, before he saw Geoffrey give him a similar smirk.  The Amity XO gave Teller a small nod in return, as if to say, “yes I know – he’s a lightweight.”

Teller: Since apparently I'm XO & Bartender, anybody else need a drink?  Otherwise, I'm going to put my feet up and enjoy the company while I've got the chance.

Aleksandrov: Refill please… ::holds out her glass::

Ukinix: ::Holding out glass:: Yeah, I’d love one, thanks mate.  I mean, XO.  ::smirking, patting Geoffrey on back:: Hey, I could get used to this.

Reade/Any
: Response

Just as he was taking a sip if his newly poured beer, Wil looked over his other shoulder to see an Argo vehicle with flashing lights and a siren sounding from its speakers. Uh oh.  Security.

Busted.

Teller:  Hmm...we could try negiogating, Captain, but maybe we should just run for it.

Wil wondered if the beers were starting to get to Teller upon hearing him trying to correctly pronounce the word “negotiation”, and whether his XO was in a fit mental state to be making command decisions.

Aleksandrov: ::covers her mouth and giggles:: Seriously?

But the idea did have its merit.

Ukinix: I’m down with this idea.  But where do we run to?

Wong/Reade/Any: Response

Teller: Well I've seen the security center once already on this trip, I'd rather not end up there again.  I say we make a run for the border and don't look back.

Aleksandrov: Having been here for a while, I honestly do not believe you will have the option. ::gestures at the hoverpub:: We do rather stand out.

Wil raised his finger to make a suggestion, but it was too late.  The security officer made her approach to the hoverpub.

Ivanova: Having a bit of fun, are we?

Ukinix:  Ah, ::looking at pips::, Commander, ::eyes back to officer:: we were just testing this vehicle, for its appropriateness for a cultural festival just like the one upstairs.  Unfortunately we went down the stairs, it seems our navigational systems need some work.

Teller/Wong
: Response

Wil sensed amusement in some of his fellow occupants, and some nervousness in others.  That got overtaken by his own nerves.  By the look on the security officer’s face, he was not going to be able to talk his way out of the situation.

Reade: Response

Lidia examined the vehicle closely before turning her attention back to Wil.

Ivanova: Commander Ukinix, the Ambassador would like to have a word...

Wil closed his eyes, slumped slight in his chair, and gave a resigned sigh.

Ukinix: ::Quietly under his breath:: Oh @#%@.

He sat up and turned his head though when he heard the footsteps of another person approaching.

Rivi.

And she seemed be wearing a sheer black top, which save for the horizontal lines was partially see-through.

oO Avert your eyes, Ukinix! Oo

Ukinix: ::Big smile:: Ambassadooor!  Hey, um – have you met our two Talaxian friends here?

He didn’t exactly know *why* he was trying to talk his way out of it.  She was full Betazoid, hiding anything from Rivi was going to be highly difficult.

Teller/Wong
: Response

Aleksandrov: ::an expression of extreme innocence on her face:: Ambassador...

Reade: Response

Wil eyebrows raised when she made her way to a spare seat, and sat down.

Vataix: Happy birthday!

After blinking a few times, he turnedhis head to the side while keeping his eyes on Rivi, and smiling.

Ukinix: Wait.  Where you in on this?

The Betazoid suddenly leaned in closely to Wil’s face.  All Wil could see was black eyes staring back at him.

Vataix: SURPRISE!

Ukinix: ::Hand on chest:: Holy $^#@ - I mean - thanks!

Rivi looked over to Geoffrey and Scotty, seemingly for validation.  Of course Betazoids didn’t get the idea of surprises – not much was kept secret in their culture.

Vataix: Thank you, Commander Ivanova, for the lift.

The smirking security officer gave a playful shake of her head.

Ivanova: Have fun...

The fun loving Ambassador plonked herself back down into her seat.

Vataix: So where are we going, exactly? And do you have anything fruity?

She beamed with excitement, clapping her hands rapidly.

Ukinix: Ambassador, you’ll be glad to know we are heading to Wet Goods Tavern on the Mezzanine level.  And ::leaning over to pour beer from another tap:: this beer says that it’s a “Tropical IPA” so you might like it.

Teller/Wong
: Response

Aleksandrov: Well, I suggested Wet Goods

Ukinix: :To Scotty:: Let’s take the long way, past the fountain, and back up the other set of stairs.  Get the full tour.

In front of them on the middle of the Ground Floor was a beautiful looking fountain.  On the circular pillar was a plaque that read “Janaran Fountain”.

Wong/Reade/Teller/Vataix: Response

On the LCARS console in front of him, Wil turned down the music slightly and picked up what looked to be a small voice transmitting device.  The sound of his voice played through the speakers.

Ukinix: ::Clears Throat:: This is your commanding officer speaking.  We’re currently cruising at around 9 kilometres per hour at an altitude of 10cm above the Ground Floor of the Grand Mezzanine.  If you look to your right, you’ll see Janaran Fountain, named after Betazed’s beautiful Janaran Falls in honour of Amity’s first Ambassador and our special guest aboard the Batavia, Rivi Vataix.

Vataix/Any: Response

Ukinix: Slightly further to the right is the glass elevator that leads up the structure above us known as “The Spire”, which contains a magnificent observation deck and the silver service “Lighthouse” restaurant.  But for the time being, sit back, relax, and enjoy the trip.  ::Slight smirk:: Until we get to staircase two, because then we’re going to have to peddle like crazy to get up them.

With a giggle Wil put the audio transmitting device back in the slot next to the console.

Teller/Wong/Reade/Vataix/Aleksandrov: Response

Ukinix: ¯\_()_/¯

Teller/Wong/Reade/Vataix/Aleksandrov: Response

Ukinix: I’d recommend a bit of - ::taking big swig from beer glass:: - liquid encouragement.  We’ll get up there no worries.  We have to, I can hear Teller’s stomach rumbling.  All hands, start pedalling on my mark.

Wil changed screens on the console, then pressed the big “red alert” button.  The warning klaxon from on old Constitution class ship sounded through the speakers, and the bar and umbrellas above were bathed in red.

Teller/Wong/Reade/Vataix/Aleksandrov: Response

Ukinix: Now!

Teller/Wong/Reade/Vataix/Aleksandrov: Response
