((Main Engineering, UAW Enterprise))
Once he was behind the next console, he glanced down at his left upper arm - sure enough, there was a burn mark on his suit, and part of his arm was exposed. A phaser lance had grazed his arm. It wasn't serious. but it hurt. He winced in pain and held it for a moment, before composing himself as best he could.
Saavei: Juriton ::She set her comms to private once more:: We need to neutralize them quickly before she hits the warp core again. If you can create a distraction, I may be able to hit both remaining threats before they can respond.
Juriton: =/\= Understood. =/\=
His eyes darted around, looking for something, anything, that would provide just that.
Trauina: There are more security officers on the way! And you are on a UAW ship, Starfleet, so you will be detained also!
Saavei: Unfortunately, Lieutenant, I do not have time to debate the points of cross-organization legalities.
As the conversation raged on, Juriton was already on his knees, tapping at the console. After a few more quick presses, a gas began to fill the bay. He turned and grabbed at his arm again, as more phaser fire lanced out.
Then it suddenly stopped. The sound of two bodies dropping to the floor made him turn around, wincing in pain.
Juriton: ::Grabbing arm tightly:: Anesthizine. Hell of a distraction.
Saavei: Well done, Commander. It accomplished the goal.
Juriton: Except now my EV suit has a tear in it. ::Gesturing to upper arm::
He started to feel woozy, and his eyes wanted to shut. He fought it as much as he could... and he needed to help Saavei freeze those gel packs once and for all...
Saavei: I am going to bring the warp core to an emergency stop while we still have time, in the event the Lieutenant was not bluffing about additional security. If you are able to get the cooling unit into position, we can begin our task.
It seemed the Vulcan was straight down to business. It both surprised and didn't surprise him.
Juriton: ::wearily:: I--
He fought the urge to let his eyes close. His hand over the phaser hole in his EV suit, that was pressed against the painful burn, was keeping him awake - but not enough to keep traces of anesthizine slowly leaking into his suit.
He glanced around at the mess nearby and spotted the one thing that they had pulled from Voyager's database that they could replicate, and actually make more advanced given the Illidarians knack for creating strong bonding materials.
Duct-plus tape.
Without hesitating, he reached for it, then as quickly as he could, pulled out a long strap of it, then wrapped it around his singed arm.
Juriton: ArrggHHHH!
The pain of the tape binding with his burn snapped him fully awake, allowing him to wind the tape around and around his upper arm. It would hold, and keep the anesthizine out.
After breathing in and out a few times to deal with the pain, he got to his feet and staggered over to the cooling unit. He was ok, but he couldn't lift his singed left arm very far.
Saavei: Warp core is offline. Main power is also failing. Switching to secondary systems... which are also failing. Patching in tertiary systems to maintain seal integrity. Tertiary circuits are... not something we should rely on for long.
With his right arm, and his body, he pushed the cooling unit into place,
Juriton: The Astrofleet has been... ::heaving:: .. relying on them this long... ::heaving:: ... what's a few more minutes?
As Saavei kept working away, Juriton adjusted the unit's positioning so that it could blast into the exposed Jeffries tube, which would allow the cold to rush over the gel packs throughout the ship.
Trills and warnings sounded throughout the engineering bay, as parts of the Enterprise shut down.
Saavei: Removing protective caps now. Junctions are exposed. We can begin attaching the cooling system to the main plasma conduit intakes here.
He nodded.
Juriton: Got it--
The sounds of yelling in the distance reminded him that the coast was far from clear. It sounded like more security officers were on their way.
He attached the tubes from the cooling system into the conduit intakes that had been thankfully exposed by Jefferies tube entrance A-648-J3. With a click, they locked into place, as he was thankful that the comparable intakes were the same size and standard as Voyager's-- and it seemed was still standard in Starfleet.
Saavei: Filling plasma conduits with the refrigerant gas now... ::tapping the console on the Starfleet device:: ... and activating cooling cycle. We will know in short order if this was successful or not.
He shuffled over to a UAW console and tapped away at the screen. A few seconds later, the main entrance to engineering was sealed off by a quickly lowering blast door.
Juriton: That'll give the officers something else to think about while we freeze the gel packs.
He tapped to move to another LCARS-like screen. It was a diagnostic display of the gel pack network.
Saavei: Response
Juriton: It's working. Gel pack temperatures are dropping, systems are going offline. Life support systems are... switch to backup, amazing, wonders will never cease.
Saavei: Response
Outside of the blast doors, a group of 10 security officers arrived, two of them pacing up and down the door, looking for a way in, while one tried to activate a console.
One of them redundantly pointed a phaser at Juriton, as they raise their voice at him. but the blast door was soundproof too. He lifted his right arm to point at the ear area of his helmet, then shrugged.
Juriton: Sorry, can't hear you!
Saavei: Response
Juriton: Well, when the coolant travels back this way, they're going to get very cold. ::Looking at duct-plus tape on his sleeve:: and so might I.
It was working for now, but in extreme cold temperatures, he wasn't sure it would hold. Duct-plus tape was a marvel but not designed to protect someone in extreme cold like that.
Saavei: Response
Juriton: ::Tapping console:: All I can tell you is that the gel packs are freezing. We may not know unless the Kepler can do some sort of scans of our ship. Do you have that capability?
Saavei: Response
