With the backdrop of the protostar in the distance in the solar nebula Amity was located in, within the greater Barossa nebula, the galaxy looked gorgeous to Wil. That’s why he had decided that the crew need to get “outside” - which of course was impossible.
But setting up near the force field entrance/exit of the shuttlebay gave a view of space outside, with the line of Type-6A shuttles nearby, almost looking like they were acting as an observing honour guard, making it a different setting for handing out well deserved ribbons to the crew.
With chairs set up, and a table nearby lined with wooden boxes, Wil stood with his hands behind his back, just looking out into purple space, as the crew made their way over to the area.
Hopper: Response
Ukinix: G’day Robin. How’s this view?
Hopper: Response
Ukinix: Actually, I’ve got something different in mind today. Mixing in a little team building exercise. Just follow along. Ready to go?
Hopper: Response
As he gestured for Robin to stand next to the table full of boxes, Wil took a few steps forward, and rubbed his hands together.
Ukinix: Welcome team, it might seem that I have fibbed a little when I said come to the shuttlebay for an exercise, but we are in fact going to do something as a group. ::gesturing to boxes:: And you’re all involved.
He smirked a little as he looked out to the mostly uniformed faces, plus two of the FDC representatives that had joined them-- Keehani and Aitas.
Ukinix: Firstly, congrats everyone on our successful mission. The Uwezo and the Hovans have hopefully both got new friends to get to know - the Federation - over the coming decades. And that wouldn’t have been possible without all of you and your fine work, that was at times dangerous. Be proud of what you’ve helped achieve.
Any: Response
Ukinix: Alright, firstly. Can I have Ensign Saavei come forward? ::to Hopper:: Robin, ready with their box?
Saavei/Hopper: Response
Ukinix: For working with the Uwezo warp program lead to develop plans to change the warp ship back to a fusion reactor, you’re awarded the Innovation Ribbon. Congratulations. Commander, if you’ll do the honour?

Ukinix: Now ensign, don’t sit down. Robin, can you hand Saavei the next boxes? ::to crew:: And can we have Ensign Varati and Lieutenant Wong come up.
A little smile permeated Wil’s face, as he gave Robin a wink.
Wong/Varati: Response
Ukinix: For the green skin covering you developed for me, Ensign, and Ikaia for the recording of Norsel’s conversation, you are also both awarded the Innovation Ribbon also, and Saavei is going to award them to you. Congrats to all of you.
Saavei/Wong/Varati: Response

Wil waited while the four stood in front of the seated crew, facing them, while Ikaia and D’Cyra were handed two boxes each from Robin.
Ukinix: For your investigation and getting to the bottom of the stolen ships, and the bigger conspiracy behind it, while working with the, let’s politely call them the “shy” Hovans, you’re all awarded the Joint Meritorious Unit Award! D’Cyra and Ikaia, please do the honours with the ribbons in those boxes.
Wong/Varati/Rosek-Skyfire/Aitas/Nevark/Iko: Response

There was another three boxes that Robin needed to hand out.
Ukinix: And, Lael, Aitas and Bec, the three of you are also awarded the Lifesaving Ribbon, for pulling Hovans out of the rubble from the explosion on Hova. Well done, and thank you. ::to Layla:: Mind handing out a ribbon?

Ukinix: For the undercover tracking down operation on Uwe II of Robin’s away team, Commander Stros, Lieutenant Moore, Ensign Varati, and myself are awarded the Intelligence Star. ::To Lael, Aitas, Layla, and Bec:: If you four could pin the ribbons?

Wil stepped forward, allowing one of them to attach the ribbon to his uniform.

Ukinix: Alrighty, we’re on a roll now, I think we all know the drill! And as such, as Robin hands the boxes to those still remaining up here, and me, can we have Lieutenant Wong, Lieutenant Galanis, Ensign Saavei, come up?
Wil smiled as Robin handed him a box, and he gave a nod of thanks with a little smirk. He hoped she was coping okay.
Hopper: Response
Ukinix: For uncovering Norsel’s plot, the three of you, plus Commander Hopper, are awarded the Starfleet Investigation Ribbon. Congratulations! ::gesturing to Niev:: Lieutenant, if I may?
Stros/Moore/Varati: Response
Wil stepped forward to stand in front of Niev, and pin the ribbon on their uniform.
Ukinix: Well deserved, Lieutenant, congratulations. ::offering hand::

Ukinix: Okay, now we’re back down to three, so Niev, Ikaia, and Saavei, you know what do to for the next three people-- Stros, Moore and Varati, you didn’t think you get to keep your seats, did you?

When the last set of three ribbon receivers had their boxes, Wil addressed the three new officers that had just joined them all up front.
Ukinix: For intercepting & apprehending the stolen Hovan stealth ships without casualties in a very tricky situation, Commander Stros, Lieutenant Moore, and Ensign Varati, you are all awarded the Legion of Merit. Congrats!
Wong/Saavei/Hopper/Stros/Moore/Varati: Response
Ukinix: Alright, that’s it for ribbons. Congratulations to everyone, and thanks to everyone that handed out a ribbon, which is everyone that received a ribbon!
Wil started a round of applause…

…then waited for it to die down.
Ukinix: Commander Hopper, there’s two boxes left on the table… ::puts index finger over mouth:: hmmm…

Ukinix: Did we stuff up?

Ukinix: Or… we could instead invite Ensign Varati and Second Secretary Aitas up with us.
Wil clapped as the two made their way to the front, and he gave them both a friendly nod.
Ukinix: We’re going to need some help from a friend of Starfleet’s. ::To Keehani:: Consul Ukinix?
The Envoy stood up, and with a warm smile clipped clopped her way in her heels on the hard shuttlebay floor to stand next to Robin.
Keehani: ::To Robin:: Thank you for having me, Commander.
Hopper: Response
She clasped her hands in front of herself, then looked at the ground to listen as her cousin spoke.
Ukinix: I was fortunate enough to be an instructor during Ensign Varati’s last academy exam, and I think she thought she could bribe everyone with chocolate. ::To D’Cyra:: So this is an impromptu court martial for bribing a senior officer with a delicious unhealthy snack. ::Looks back at crew, raises hand:: Who reckons she’s guilty?
Varati: Response

Ukinix: Well, lucky you’ve not only made up for that with more chocolate, you’ve been a great Starfleet officer and a fantastic person who not only brings a smile to everyone’s face, you’ve demonstrated your abilities as a science boffin, in some cases under extreme pressure during your duties, and Commander Hopper and I couldn’t be happier. ::To Robin:: Commander, I think you can do the honours.
He watched as Robin took one of the boxes and made her way over to Varati.
Ukinix: As CO of Amity Outpost, I hereby promote you to the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade, and promote you to Science Officer, you’re no longer a “Junior”. Congratulations!
Hopper/Varati: Response

Wil waited for Robin to affix the pip to D’Cyra’s uniform, before taking a few steps and offering his hand-- and a hidden box of his own, a little larger than the other ones.
Ukinix: Well done, *Lieutenant* Varati. As a bonus, this is a box of chocolate truffles, made from Thalian chocolate.

Ukinix: Of course, our newest Lieutenant JG isn’t alone today. ::to Keehani:: Envoy?
Keehani smiled towards Robin to accept a box from her, then moved next to Aitas, while facing the seated officers.
Keehani: Even though Amity Outpost is now a consulate instead of the Federation’s embassy, it is a vital cog in the FDC’s mission in the Delta Quadrant. And that mission is only as good as the people we have working on it and for it. We are here to make friends, and I want to thank all of you for your efforts in the new friends we’ve hopefully just made-- the Hovans, and the Uwezo. And I’d especially like to thank… ::taking breath, turning to Aitas:: Second Secretary Aitas for her role not only in the recent mission while I was detained, but for all of her hard work and her dedication since she joined us. You’ve been exemplary since you arrived here, and the FDC would be lost without you. For this reason…
She opened the box, revealing a brooch, this time of a Vulcan Orchid, in recognition of her Vulcan heritage.
Keehani: … I gift you this brooch, to add to your collection, as I am sure you will earn several more. ::Offering hand:: Congratulations, First Secretary Aitas.

Ukinix: Firstly, some sad news – Commander Stros is leaving us, and is transferring to the USS Khitomer. ::To Stros:: Mate, you weren’t with us for long, but we’ve valued your experience since joining us from Whispering Wall, and you’ve been a lot of fun to have around. We’re going to miss you, and wish you all the best in your next posting—maybe this time, don’t hide from us if we contact you via comms, yeah?

Ukinix: Which means that Commander Rosek-Skyfire is now your new Chief of Operations, taking over Stros’ role. Commander Rosek-Skyfire’s had a lot of experience, and we’re lucky to have you not only with Amity, but to be able to slot into this role. ::Offering hand:: Congratulations, Lael.

Just as Wil was about to wrap up, a group of catering staff, plus some crew in yellow uniform, exited the elevator lobby from Copernicus and moved towards them with tables and trays of food.
Ukinix: Well that’s it for ribbons, and promotions, and role changes, and to celebrate, the FDC has graciously put on a smorgasbord lunch for all of us. Who said shuttlebays weren’t versatile, ‘ey? Oh and Commander Rosek-Skyfire, ::playfully:: I made sure there was extra food for the twins.

Wil smiled as chairs began to be rearranged, while tables were being placed, and catering staff set up the plethora of food that was about to be on offer.
