There was a rumble beneath them, and a distant screech of bending metal. The closet held, and easily so. Whatever had happened wasn’t close. At least not yet.
Aitas looked back up from the console overview, which had started to blink in an unpleasantly vibrant green.
Aitas: A system near the mess just exploded. ::tapping a nearby section of the map:: The Shelby can send us to assist.
From what little the console could tell her, it had been near the end of one of the Hovan meal-times. They’d need all the assistance they could get.
Sel: Any assistance that you are able to provide is much appreciated.
Iko/Orrey: Response
Rosek-Skyfire: ::nodding:: How bad is the damage? ::to Orrey:: Think we’ll need additional medical support? ::to Sel:: If it’s welcome, I can coordinate from here.
Sel: I do not believe coordination from this bunker will provide the appropriate effect. If your Shelby can transport you all to a safe area near the sight of the explosion, that would be a more adequate location.
Aitas: Sending the location of the safe area to the Shelby now.
Iko/Orrey: Response
Rosek-Skyfire: ::to Aitas:: I know I just walked into this, but if somethings off, we could lose proof that this wasn’t an accident if we split up too soon.
Aitas: The fire will be hitting a large methane deposit soon. We don’t have any guarantee this bunker will hold.
Rosek-Skyfire: We’ve got two fires to put out, one literal and one political. What’s everyone think? Split up and cover both, or stick together until we know what we’re dealing with?
Sel snorted a little.
Sel: There will not be much more evidence to gather from this hangar in a few moments. I recommend we all move to safety.
Aitas: Understood, Representative. Will you be coming with us?
From what the console was showing, the Hovans seemed to have some ability to transport themselves out of the bunker, though in a more limited capacity than Federation technology.
Iko/Orrey: Response
Sel: This is where I must leave you, for the time being. With the chaos around the facility, there will be fires of my own that will need put out. We will have teams on sight to assist in the evacuations and help to mitigate the fires.
Aitas gave Sel an open-handed bow.
Aitas: Then we will assist them.
Rosek-Skyfire/Iko/Orrey: Response
Sel transported away, and with a brief request to the Shelby and a flash of light, the Federation personnel were promptly transported to their own destination.

It was the smell of smoke that hit Aitas first, followed by the scent of unfamiliar blood. One of the wall panels in front of them was bowed out, and a group of somewhat startled Hovans looked up at their group. Most of them were streaked in a gray-green substance. Probably blood.
A pile of rubble covered what looked to be the entrance to the mess hall, and the Hovans were already removing what they could, careful of the injured bodies trapped within.
Aitas: Representative Veron Sel sent us to assist. ::she indicated Orrey:: He’s a doctor.
Iko/Orrey/Rosek-Skyfire: Response
One of the Hovans stopped a moment; her fur was singed and her hands bloodied.
Hovan: And what use are you?
Aitas: I’m stronger than I look. And we can help with extracting anyone you aren’t able to move safely.
She indicated her commbadge as she moved over to assist with moving the rubble. If Aitas was to guess, it looked as if whatever had exploded had been in the wall, near the doorway. But in any case it had blasted loose plates of metal and chunks of some heavy, rock-like substance from the ceiling above. The smell of blood grew stronger as she picked up a piece of metal, and she could feel the bruised pain of several trapped Hovans.
