(OOC: Posting at my 48 hours because I don’t have time to post tomorrow due to IRL.)
The rat went up and down, up and down, over and over, until—snap… the conduit cable gave way. The rodent fell to the ground, and then right away, Kaito did the same trick, reversing polarity, causing the vole-weasel-like creature to float up into the air. Perfect timing too, as the atmosphere injection was ready — the perfect mix of knock-out drugs to subdue the creatures.
Moore: Not today! Satan!
He said as he practically slapped the button to first fill the cargo hold with anesthizine gas, and then lower the oxygen levels to force the creatures to hibernate. Kaito smirked a little as he felt triumphant over his Devil Rat Foes!
He then looked around at his crewmates, realizing what he said in front of them, a phrase that he had learned years ago as a kid from a crewmember on his dad’s ship — shouted out after fixing a particularly annoying problem… No doubt as annoying as this. But given that he said that suddenly out loud, and on his screen was a floating ball of sleeping devil rats in a cargo bay, he now just kind of felt awkward.
Saavei/Vanlith/Wong: Response
Moore: Sorry. Got a little excited… Oh hey Wong?! When did you get here?
He hadn’t even noticed them transporting him in, or maybe he just ran from the turbolift. Truth be told, he was kind of overly focused.
Wong: Response
Rosek-Skyfire: Are you good, Doctor? Any injuries?
Wong: Response
Rosek-Skyfire: ::nods:: Can you start with the others? It usually takes longer for radiation to affect me anyway. I can keep working on power redistribution in the meantime.
Wong: Response
Kaito gave Wong a wave, and mouthed, “Toss me a hypo.” No point to waste the doctor’s time when Kaito could easily administer the spray himself. Why else was he attending all those medical classes with Dr. Orrey and Dr. Wong? So he could legally drug himself with the fun fancy named stuff!
Rosek-Skyfire: ::to Saavei and Vanlith:: How’s it looking over there?
Saavei / Vanlith: Responses
Rosek-Skyfire: Good. I’ll transfer a bit of the turbolift power to the delivery system to ensure we get full coverage of the cargo hold. ::to Kaito:: Did we get them all?
Moore: At least the ones around the doctor. ::He motioned towards Wong:: And various others we could detect, but I think we got them.
Rosek-Skyfire: Good work, Lieutenant. We should give one more decent sweep before we move on, though.
Moore: Agreed, Commander. If what was scanned is right, and they are part tribble… which there are really only two parts of tribbles, eating and… mating… so if they breed like tribbles then we have a problem, because one tribble can produce about ten babies every… twelve hours… Just one could breed over fourteen thousand in two days.
He glanced around at everyone and motioned back at his terminal screen, showing the floating mass of sleeping Devil Tribble Voles.
Moore: We’re looking at getting overrun if we don’t stop them.
Saavei/Vanlith/Wong/Rosek-Skyfire: Responses
Moore: My question is where did they come from? Why are they here, and showing up now? Surely we would have detected them before the storm?! I know internal sensors should have flagged the damage they’re doing?
Saavei/Vanlith/Wong/Rosek-Skyfire: Responses
He turned back to his screen and got to work running the deep scan. It was going to use more power than they couldn’t afford to use… except in this case, it might be life or death.
Moore: Well, I know this won’t be popular, and I might get the couch suggesting it, but that’s the life of a Tactical Officer. If this gets out of hand, and we missed any… then we’ll have to exterminate them, because this is a lose-everything level of disaster as they literally eat us out of home… if we didn’t get all of them. Assuming they reproduce like tribbles.
