Level 12, Science and Research Centre, Amity Outpost))
Their pizza was ready and Molly pulled them towards her table by Esmas' wrist this time.
Molly: Come on!
Everyone got situated and began to enjoy their food.
Sam didn’t know much about Esma, but she seemed like a safe option for a roommate.
S. Richards: So Esma, I’m curious about what kind of criteria you had in picking a suitable roommate.
Sam picked up her pizza and took a rather large bite. She closed her eyes and enjoyed the dance of flavors in her mouth.
Esma: I first eliminated all other prospective roommates with a similar vocal cadence and olfactory profile as Lieutenants Moore and Blackwood.
Sam took that as she was quiet and not smelly. If that’s all it took to be a good roommate she was glad to be on the right track.
Esma: Next, I decided that I would prefer to use the opportunity that Amity Outpost offers for me to have a roommate with a person not affiliated with Starfleet. Finally, I narrowed my choices by age, gender, and environmental needs to find those that closer match mine.
S.Richards: That makes sense. Well I’m glad I ranked high on your list ::chuckling::
Esma: ::nods:: Yes. Higher.
S. Richards: I’d assume we’d set some ground rules. I can be pretty particular when it comes to my living space.
Sam continued to take bites of her pizza and peaking at the work Molly had scattered around the table. She was a brilliant child and Sam admired her.
Esma: Naturally. I am prepared to accept your terms.
S.Richards: Well in that case I’d like to formally accept your invitation as a roommate.
Molly: Yay!
Sam smiled and reached out her hand to Esma, who in return extended her hand and completed the handshake.
Esma: Thank you, Ms. Richards. How do you prefer to be addressed?
S. Richards: You can call me Sam. ::she said with a smile::
Molly: Should I call you Scientist Sam then?
Sam took another large bite of her pizza. She was coming to learn that food from the replicator wasn’t exactly the same as homemade. Nonetheless it was still pretty good.
Esma: Where do you live in the Habitat Ring?
Molly: I live in the Paxau district, sort of near all the weird shops there. Mum’s annoyed, she doesn't like the shops, but I do. It’s nice to explore.
Esma: Our next step is to make a request for an apartment. We should select a neighborhood. There are several based on Earth cities as well as other places in the Federation and beyond. Do you have a preference?
Sam had toured all of the habitat ring and seen all of the districts. They all had their perks, but there was something about the Palais- Bourbon that really stuck with her.
S. Richards: I think I’d be happy anywhere in the habitat ring. But I do think the Palais-Bourbon District would be a really nice place to live. The Jardin Picard Park is such a peaceful little place.
Molly: Though there's no playground or anything, it's still really fun to play in–lots of hiding places for hide and seek– I miss the playground we had in San Francisco
Esma: response
S. Richards: Sweet! If that works for you it works for me!
Esma: response
S. Richards: Once we are settled in.. How does a party sound? ::Sam smirked:: we can invite all of our friends and have some drinks?
Sam got excited about the idea of a party. It would be a fun way to meet more people and get to know everyone better. Not to mention a chance to let loose and dance. Although Sam wasn’t sure Esma was the dancing kind of person she was sure going to try.
Molly: A Party?!
Esma: Response
S. Richards: Well kiddo, I was thinking of a grown up party this time. But I would be open to having another one soon where you can join.
Esma: Response
Sam smiled at Molly, hoping she didn't hurt the girl's feelings.
Molly: Oh. An adult party. What do adults even do at parties? Just stand around talking about boring things? Although it's probably not boring, but it looks like it.
S. Richards: ::Laughing:: Some adult parties can be pretty boring. I’m hoping mine has music and maybe even a little dancing. ::Looking to Esma:: Do you like music and dancing?
Esma: Response
Molly: You should invite mum! My mum. She does too much work. ::to Sam:: She’s a bit scared of your brother to ask for time off or changes of shifts.
Molly leaned towards Sam and whispered to her. Sam leaned in a bit too.
Molly: I think it’s a bit silly.
S. Richards: That is a bit silly. Your mom is definitely invited, and I will tell my brother he has to give your mom time off to join my party. If he doesn't then I won't invite him.
Sam gave Molly a wink and let out a small laugh. It was funny to her that anyone could find Nathan scary. To Sam he was anything but scary. To Sam he was also the same brother that when they were kids he would walk around the house in nothing but an oversized cowboy hat and underwear. Their mom always said, “If he's happy, leave him be… Unless we have company.”
Esma: Response
Molly: I could probably ask Ayeden and his Aunt if he’s free to play. Maybe we could have a sleepover if your party goes really late! I used to have sleepovers with my friend Kate all the time. Now we send each other letters- but its not the same. But I might see her soon at the Frontier Day celebration!
S. Richards: Once we have a date set for the party I’ll let you know and you can make the necessary plans for you and your friend.
Sam had finished up her portion of the pizza and sat back in her chair.
S. Richards: I’m stuffed. That pizza was excellent.
Esma/Molly: Response
S. Richards: Well you two, thanks for joining me for lunch! Esma, it was nice talking to you and I guess i'll see you soon roomie! Molly, it was an absolute pleasure to meet you. I see a wonderful friendship in our future.
Esma/ Molly:Response
Sam stood up from the table and gave a smile to her lunchmates.
S. Richards: See y'all later!
Esma/ Molly: Response
