Jakarn was sitting comfortably pretty with Aitas, lounging in one of the bar’s u-shaped booths, He wasn’t so much sitting as luxuriating; languidly leaned on one elbow on the couch’s top, legs crossed at the knee. With the rich clothing he wore, he was a picture, his coat coral-pink against the bar’s blue underlighting.

He was also smoking - the long, delicate pipe yet another thing made of filigree-gold. The smoke that emerged was pink-purple and sweet in scent, and the lighting made it shimmer unnaturally.

Aitas: Well, I need to decide between taking some of the law classes Martzel recommended and picking up Talaxian, at least for now. ::smiling:: I’m told I still require a little sleep.

Jakarn: Sleep seems to be the one temptation you avoid most, kràlke*. But Talaxian is a good language to learn; if nothing else, knowledge is valuable on its own, no?

She nodded.

Aitas: ... ::she caught sight of a pair of familiar figures entering and waved them over, then shifted her place in the booth to leave more space.:: May I introduce you to Commander Wil Ukinix, and Consul Keehani Ukinix, both of the Ninth House of Betazed.

Keehani: ::offering hand:: Oh! I’ve heard about you. It’s wonderful to meet you.

Jakarn happily took her hand, rising to his feet with a respectful bow of his head and a quick smile. He’d set his pipe aside, but the faint smell of sweet smoke hung in the air.

Jakarn: It’s an honor to meet you both - greater still to meet those of the House of Wealth.

Ukinix: ::Also offering hand:: G’day mate, Commander Ukinix. Wil. ::Quick dismissive handwave:: Don’t worry about the house stuff, I’m just a Starfleet officer. Great to meet you. How do you two know each other?

Jakarn’s smile had twitched to one of amusement at Wil’s dismissal. Even for a Starfleet officer, he was hardly just an officer; this was, in some ways, his castle. Aitas jumped in to explain.

Aitas: He’s an old friend.

Jakarn sat back down as Keehani did, crossing one leg over his knee as he leaned forward, robe spilling across his lap. Aitas’s summary was simple and accurate, though hardly the whole picture.

Aitas: But after that mission I think we could all use a drink. ::her gaze rested on Keehani a moment.:: Or at least I could, and I didn’t get the worst of it.

Keehani: ::Smirk, eyeroll:: Oh yes, the wonderful Hovan hospitality of a prison cell. And I was stuck with Chief Barberra.

Ukinix: ::To Keehani, slightly furrowed brow:: Oi, she’s alright, just a bit... different. ::Gesturing to Jakarn:: Mind if I slide in next to you, mate?

Jakarn: Of course.

He slid sideways to let Wil in, a playful smirk on his face. The man’s manner was awkward, casual, and rather unusual for one in his position. His looks certainly weren’t hurting, either, but nonetheless Jakarn was immediately rather interested in the unconventional officer.

Of course, the bartender chose that moment to turn up. Jakarn got comfortable in the center of the ‘u’ shaped couch, plucking his pipe from where he’d left it.

T’Plutok: ::To Keehani and Wil:: What can I get you?

Ukinix: Negroni, thanks T’Plutok, cheers.

The brightly colored Vulcan nodded and turned to the rest of the table expectantly.

Keehani: Risian Mai Tai, thank you.

T’Plutok: Excellent. ::To Jakarn and Aitas:: And another drink for the both of you?

Jakarn: Of course - a Talaxian Sunset for me, if you’d be so kind.

Aitas: Response

She returned to the barback, and the foursome settled in. Jakarn resumed his earlier pose, languid and relaxed.

Ukinix: So, how do you two know each other?

Jakarn looked at Aitas for a moment, a quick affirming glance.

Jakarn: It's a long story; the short of it, I suppose, is she is one of my proteges, and one of - oh, what is that term? Muses.

Aitas: Response

Ukinix: I don’t do holodecks much. Just to mow lawn on a ride on mower, that’s about it. It’s therapeutic.

Keehani: Yes, but you’ve heard of the Aiden Price series, right?

Ukinix: Ummmm... ::chews bottom lip::

Jakarn chuckled at that, joyfully, hand on his chest.

Jakarn: You humble me, sir. But I suppose such things are not for everyone.

Aitas / Keehani / Ukinix: Response

The bartender returned with a tray laden in brightly colored and glassed drinks; the one Jakarn had ordered came in a bizarre spiraling glass, the liquid inside carefully layered to resemble an orange-green sunset. She placed them on the table, and Jakarn picked his up, raising it as a toast.

Jakarn: Well, then - to all of you, your Houses, your Station, and your Health.

Aitas / Keehani / Ukinix: Response

Jakarn: I must say, you are not quite what I expected, Commander. Dear Aitas had said you were somewhat unusual - but in Starfleet, that can mean quite a few different things…

Aitas / Keehani / Ukinix: Response
