((1200 Hours, Grand Mezzanine))
With the messages seemingly finished, they had returned to the grand Mezzanine. Wil had polished off his Bloody Mary, and whatever the other drink was, and was ready to celebrate.
It still hadn’t sunk in properly that he now had a fourth pip. In reality, it wouldn’t change his role in the short term. But it would open up his career to further opportunities down the track.
And it was a lifelong dream made real, which gave him a buzz.
Iko: So, when I was talking about that pedal-powered hovering thing earlier…
DeVeau: Yes?
The other lifelong dream that he didn’t realise he’d had until he started as First Officer on Amity, was the pedal powered hoverpub, the USS Batavia.
What a beauty. Teller, one of the genius creators of the beautiful vessel, stood proudly next to it with one foot on the ledge of the hover pub, waving everyone over.
Teller: Your first command misses you, Wil! Why don’t you take the old girl out for a spin before you get buried under a mound of paddwork. I’m sure some of your crew would be happy to man their stations!
Wil smiled, and patted Teller on the shoulder, before standing back to admire the Batavia.
The best part about the “ship” was that Wil had since modified it so that it could run on Amity’s train network. Hmm, maybe it needed a bigger, pedal-powered tour of Amity!
Wil accepted the first poured beer from Geoffrey, then gratefully toasted the man, before taking a sip of the ale that was in the glass. Residents, officers, and visitors gathered around to witness the beauty and novelty of the floating pub. A feat of engineering that he hoped Captain Geoffrey Teller was still proud of.
Hopper: Thanks, guys. Now head up to the Lighthouse and get yourselves some snacks and drinkies!
The officers in gold who had graciously cycled the pub to Ground level of the Grand Mezzanine hopped off their seats, and headed towards the lift that would take them up to the lighthouse restaurant.
Hopper: All aboard?
Wil smiled when Alora chuckled, giving her a friendly little elbow nudge.
DeVeau: The party’s just getting started.
Teller: I’ll be the first to admit the station is pretty nice, Wil…but you should never forget your first command!
Iko: Thank you for bringing this out. And for having the audacity to make it in the first place. However ::turning to Wil:: Captain, I believe this is your ship.
Wil took a long sip from his beer, then decided to take the middle seat of the hoverpub. It would be his first command with four pips!
Ukinix: Hell yes it is.
Iko: Who wants to be part of the crew?
Varati: Let's set sail! This moment only comes once. Three cheers for our new captain! Hurrah! Hurrah! Hooray!
Any: Response
Hopper: ::To the assembled crew:: Come on, folks don’t be shy! We’ve all had our time with Wil – but if anyone wants to take a spin on the USS Batavia and bump shoulders with the CO, he’s still got that “New Captain Smell”.
Wil once again began to discreetly sniff towards his armpits, then decided against it.
Varati: ::to Ukinix:: Before things get too hectic here... It's an honour to congratulate you on your promotion to captain! A great and worthy step in a fantastic career. All the best for the future!
When D’Cyra smiled and curtsied, Wil gave a smile and nod off appreciation in return.
Varati: So... where can we get something to drink?! We still need to make a proper toast, don't we? ::giggles::
Wil smacked his hand a couple of times on the surface of the hover pub.
Ukinix: ::smacking hand on surface:: This old beauty will serve you any drink you like, compliments of my mate Captain Geoffrey Teller here, and the built-in replicator. But you gotta pedal for it, Lieutenant.
Hopper/Iko: Response?
Any: Response
Varati: This is a really interesting vehicle... I hope its airworthiness was never tested? :: grins cheekily::
Ukinix: Well we haven’t got it supersonic yet but hey, we can glide it down the corkscrew to the basement and find out I guess.
Hopper/Iko: Response?
Any: Response
Wil poured a drink from one of the taps, then handed it to D’Cyra.
Varati: Thank you so much for the drink! ::to all::What are we drinking, then? Never mind... ::chuckles:: Cheers to Captain Ukinix! Cheers to Amity!
Ukinix: Thank you, D’Cyra. And cheers to you as well. ::Gesturing:: Take a stool, that’s an order. ::playful point-click:: You too. Bec.
He got up from the centre seat, and stepped over to the replicator that was *meant* to be for drinks. But with a few presses on the console, he switched it momentarily back to “Starfleet” mode, and hooked it into the Outpost’s computer system.
With a few more taps on the LCARS screen, several wooden boxes appeared in the replicator’s bay. He returned to the Captain’s seat - and activated the console so that the Batavia went into red alert mode. The warning tone from an old Constitution class sounded, and the umbrellas glowed red.
Hopper/Iko: Response?
Ukinix: Well, we are at red alert because we have a sudden emergency. Before we can set sail around Amity, there’s a few things we need to take care of. Bec, pour yourself another drink, I can think of no better place to do what I’m about to do.

With an even bigger crowd now standing around the Batavia, Wil tapped on the console and selected a song to *blare out* from the hoverpub’s speakers. A smile appeared on Wil’s face, as a guitar riff echoed throughout the mezzanine - before Wil turned it down, and activated the comms/PA system to talk over the top of the music.
Ukinix: =/\= Attention all hands. This is your Captain speaking, welcome aboard the Tour de Amity cruise, in a few moments we’ll cast off the moorings and depart for hilarity and drinks. But before that, there’s a few things I need to go through, so that we can enjoy our liquid inspired pedal journey. =/\=
Iko/Varati/Hopper?: Response
Ukinix: =/\= First, hands up if your name is or contains “Varati”? =/\=
Varati: Response
Ukinix: =/\= Lieutenant Varati, you were instrumental and creative in tracking down the Daintree in underspace during our last mission, and that is no mean feat considering how unstable those corridors are in the nebula. For this, you receive the Spliced Mainbrace Ribbon. Congratulations! =/\=
Varati: Response
The crowd that were standing around, and people who were now looking over the upper level’s mezzanine balcony edge, applauded.
Iko/Hopper?/Any: Response
Ukinix: =/\= To the assembled crowd, I just want you all to know how humble Lieutenant Commander Rebecca Iko is, but she’s also a legend. Let’s give her a big round of applause! =/\=
Once again, everyone who was now observing, applauded the Australian Klingon-human hybrid.
Ukinix: =/\= And let’s keep that applause going, because Commander Iko, mate your defensive actions here from Ops against the Vaadwaur was instrumental in defending this amazing Outpost and it’s people. For this, you’ve been awarded the Silver Star ribbon. Congratulations! =/\=
Iko: Response
Hopper?/Varati/Any: Response
Ukinix: =/\= At the risk of sounding like a dodgy salesperson from Ferenginar, you both also receive the Explorer’s Ribbon for entering underspace corridors. Another round of applause everyone =/\=
Iko/Varati: Response
Hopper?/Any: Response
Ukinix: =/\= Now, with the important announcements out of the way, we can begin our journey. For anyone that’s game, hop on board. A big thank you once again to Captain Geoffrey Teller, and Commander Alora DeVeau, who’ve both come all the way to the Delta Quadrant. ::Taps screen:: Anyone who wants to jump on board, can and should now before we take this beauty to Peace Park via the train system. ::To Stacey:: Mum you have to get on, that’s an order. =/\=
Iko/Varati/Hopper?/Any: Response
(OOC: A big thank you to Karrod Niac (Teller), Alora DeVeau, and of course my two command trio colleagues Commander Robin Hopper and Lieutenant Commander Bec Iko for Wil’s IC captaincy promotion shenanigans - this has been great fun. Thank you also to D’Cyra, loved listening to “Joyride” while writing part of this sim!)

(OOC: Repost to include Renaie’s missed tags. Apologies!)
Shortrith: Wooo!
Wil looked towards the “Wooo” from the assembled crowd, and spotted Renaie. He motioned for them to come closer to the hover pub, then continued to explain *why* he set the hoverpub at red alert.
Ukinix: Well, we are at red alert because we have a sudden emergency. Before we can set sail around Amity, there’s a few things we need to take care of. Bec, pour yourself another drink, I can think of no better place to do what I’m about to do.

Shortrith: Well done, Captain. It's been an honour serving with you, no matter how short it's been. ::smiling:: Are you about to rock, Sir?
He smiled at Renaie, then nodded. oO Yes, music... Oo It was a great idea.
Ukinix: Yes. Yes I am.
Any: Response
With an even bigger crowd now standing around the Batavia, Wil tapped on the console to bring up the music list.
Shortrith: ::semi-melodically:: For those about to rock, we salute you.
Uncanny from Renaie, considering the song he was about to pick. He selected a different AC/DC song to *blare out* from the hoverpub’s speakers. A smile appeared on Wil’s face, as a guitar riff echoed throughout the mezzanine - before Wil turned it down, and activated the comms/PA system to talk over the top of the music.
