Iko: How ya doin’?
Barberra: ::Looking at leg, disappointed tone:: Well, they fixed my broken leg, so.
Shortrith: ::light-hearted:: Was just about to ask the same question myself.
Bec spun around with the kind of surprise you have when you're caught red-handed doing something you're not meant to. She gave the Doctor a smile, but the bright red colour of Bec's face couldn't hide an inch of her overwhelming embarrassment.
Barberra: ::To Renaie:: Thank god you’re here. I’d like a burrito, with a side serve of fries and chili ketchup, oh and jello with embedded popcorn for dessert. Or, scratch that whole order and I’ll have a tequila. Whichever’s easier.
Shortrith: Sure, I'll grab that in a sec. ::To Bec:: Am I imposing?
Renaie noticed Barberra tilt her head, and obeyed wordlessly as Bec gestured for them to come in.
She gestured the other Klingon in.
Iko: Nonono, it's fine, it's fine, I…
Bec looked at Annamae, and then up at Renaie, and then at Annamae again, and then at Renaie again, and then… well you get the picture.
Rennie looked like they were about to chuckle.
Barberra: Fifteen-love.
Shortrith: ::light-hearted:: We're not playing tennis, ya know.
Bec sighed. There was no easy way to go about this, but introductions were certainly in order.
Iko: Shortcak—SHORTRITH, Rennae—Renaie Shortrith, Renaie meet Annamae Barberra.
Considering how she'd stumbled so poorly through that, Bec stumbled through the basics of the rest of the information hoping that she couldn't get more embarrassed.
Iko: ::gesturing to Annamae:: Current partner, ::gesturing to Renaie:: ex-partner.
She put her hands behind her back and gave them both an awkward smile.
Annamae snapped to stare at her, and her face stayed in that direction, before her eyes rolled towards looking at Rennie, who tensed.
Barberra: ::Deadpan, low tone:: Really…
oO Please don't kill each other— Oo
Bec knew that they both very much capable of doing so, if murder was what they wanted to achieve. But Rennie relaxed when Annamae lifted her chin and Bec was the one to slowly die on the inside instead.
Barberra: Hey, did Bec like it when you played with her hair?
Bec grabbed onto the back of her hair as if to position it in a pony. But considering it was still growing after frontier day the strands at the front didn't quite reach and instead fell back to the sides of her face and Bec sheepishly returned her hand back to behind her back while she waited for the answer.
Shortrith: Yes, she did.
It wasn't a secret. To those two anyway.
Barberra: She make you do that thing where you have to massage her really, really hard in that tiny spot exactly next to her right shoulder blade? It took me months to get it right. I’m better at it with my knuckle than my thumb.
Shortrith: ::Chuckling:: Constantly.
Rennie looked over in Bec's direction. Bec looked down.
Iko: I can't reach it myself, okay?
Barberra: And did she leave her duty post jacket sprawled on the couch, and never put it away?
Iko: I'm getting better at that!
Shortrith: Oh yeah, especially when she slept over. Did you ever get the urge to make her something when she did?
Barberra: Oh yeah, once I made her chocolate moopsy cake for breakfast. Chocolate negates feisty, every time.
Annamae gave one of her signature smiles, and Bec wondered how much more the two were going to share about her.
Especially when Rennie gave the jealous smile Bec had always been worried about
Shortrith: Lucky you.
Iko: I…
The other Klingon threw their hands up in mock surrender and smirked. Bec watched, still mildly worried.
Shortrith: In my defence, Bec, you were a first class when I joined the Academy. I'd known you for the better part of two years by the time you graduated.
Bec nodded, letting herself more relax into the embarrassment rather than fight against it.
Iko: Yeah, because I met you at St. Kilda beach one break while you were still at Melbourne Uni.
And now Annamae was doing a degree out of Melbourne Uni. It was a neat little full circle, but not in the best way…
Barberra: Response
Shortrith: If I may ask out of curiosity, how long have you two…?
Bec looked at Annamae.
Iko: Three…? Three years?
Barberra: Response
See this, this is where it differed between them. With Annamae she did not keep track of how long they were together. A few weeks had just turned into several years. She wasn't sure when exactly the date was. Just that it was December. But for Rennie on the other hand, she still remembered that April 13th, 2397 was when they'd started dating. They'd had this lovely one year dinner—fancy restaurant and all (which, if you know Bec, you know is seldom her thing) and had plans for their second anniversary when they had had “the Falling Out”.
Shortrith: ::trying not to be awkward, unsure about what else to say:: I see.
Barberra: Response
Iko: It's not, I mean—
Bec looked between the two and then very quickly shut the hell up. She didn't even really know what she was saying anyway.
Barberra/Shortrith: Response
Bec put her hands up in a small mock-surrender.
Iko: Look, I… Honestly I never thought I'd ever see you again. You were gonna go your separate way and I was gonna go mine and we were going to… oO Forget we were in each other's lives… Oo
Ensign Iko hadn't wanted anything to do with earth, or really anything to do with the Alpha Quadrant at all. She’d been overjoyed at how remote her posting was, how far away from the world she used to live in she was, how she could run away from everything and everyone and start again. A new life, a new home, a new family.
Barberra/Shortrith: Response
But if there was one thing Bec knew, it was that your past can still find ways to bite back at you even if you're several thousand AUs away.
She sighed.
Iko: Rennie what the #$%@ are you doing in the Delta Quadrant?
Barberra/Shortrith: Response
