There were no table or chairs for Wil, Robin, or their Counsel. They just stood in the middle of the circular room. Around them, military officers sat on seats at the edge of the room, just looking at the trio. Wil assumed that might be the “jury”, but couldn’t be sure. Ahead of them was a vacant chair, slightly bigger than the others.
It wasn’t long before a Paak, wearing a long red baggy robe, walked into the room. He was a male, tall, and had the same rainbow skin as the other Paak – however, this particular person had grey eyebrows, and was slightly wrinkled, showing their age. Whatever that age actually was – Wil wondered if he was 15, or 150.
All of the military officers formed their hands in a triangle above their head, as the magistrate stood in front of his chair, before finally taking a seat.

The magistrate looked at Robin and Wil, pausing for a moment, Wil sensing he was expecting them to say something.
Finally, Wil complied.
Ukinix: Yeah, it sucks when you rely on *our* technology to understand us, and yet still put us on trial, huh.
The magistrate sat back in his chair, blinking his eyes for a moment, seemingly trying to decipher the sounds he’d just heard, let alone whatever it was Wil had said.

Wil blinked his eyes and snapped his head towards Robin. She was obviously speaking Centauran (he remembered there were maybe two types, but he couldn’t quite remember the exact details) to further demonstrate the language barrier. The corner of his mouth turned up into a sly, pleased smile, before Commander turned to the magistrate.
When they had first emerged from the shuttle and heard the Paak’s unique melodic language while the UT was sorting itself out, he had sung the Kookburra song, which they seemed to “get” – he assumed mainly because of the melody. Maybe continuing to sing would help. The next logical step for Wil from that song was another song that had (allegedly) used part of that tune.

The magistrate seemed to be looking at Wil.
Ukinix: ::Shrug, palms out:: Dunno what you’re saying, mate.
The male magistrate in the long red robes, responsible for the outcome of what happened next to Robin and Wil, stood up. Combadges were back on the Starfleet officer’s chests, having been retrieved by the military officer. Wil could sense the displeasure from not only the magistrate, but also from counsel representing the two officers.
Their representative leaned in closely to Robin and Wil, and spoke very quietly and angrily to them.
Paak (Counsel): ::speaking quietly:: I’m two seconds away from asking the Paak to assign different Paak. If you pull a stunt like that again, I’ll personally take you both to internment.

Ukinix: They’re our devices! We chose not to, to prove that we are *not from this planet*, you #@%2@@^%^$.
The counsel simply shook his head, then stepped back. The magistrate stood from his chair, and held out his palms.
Paak (Magistrate): Speak your names and full rank. And I warn you – answer honestly.

Ukinix: And I am Commander Wil Ukinix, First Officer and Starfleet attaché, Amity Outpost, United Federation of Planets.
Paak (Magistrate): Your titles. “Lieutenant Commander” and “Commander”. Are they military titles, such as Paak, Paak and Paak?
Wil shared a glance with Robin, before answering the magistrate.
Ukinix: They’re… ranks. We don’t think of ourselves as “military”, but there is a chain of command. I am the ranking officer.
Paak (Magistrate): Then you are the one responsible for presenting yourselves at this tribunal without your communication translation devices?
Ukinix: Yes, magistrate, it was my order, to demonstrate how we are struggling to fully understand your language.
The magistrate took in a large breath, before focusing solely on Wil.
Paak (Magistrate): I am aware of the claims you have made of your otherworldly origins, and while some in this room are sceptical, the general consensus so far of the military scientific experts seated around you is that you in fact, may indeed be, not of Paak. But I do not care whether you are from North Paak, South Paak, Paak, Paak, or from the other side of the Paak galaxy. I *will not* permit these tribunal proceedings to be deliberately circumvented in the manner you have. This is a potentially momentous milestone in the entire history of Paak, yet you have treated this tribunal with disdain. I hold you, Commander Wil Ukinix, in *contempt* of this tribunal, and you will spend your time in internment while the tribunal hearings are ongoing for the next several weeks. Lieutenant Commander Robin Hopper will speak for you. You have lost the right to join her in your defence.
Ukinix: WHAT!
Paak (Magistrate): And I suggest you remain *quiet*, lest I give you further punishment.
Hopper: Response
Paak (Magistrate): ::To Robin:: Remain quiet, or I will rule against you as well, Lieutenant Commander Robin Hopper.
One of the uniformed Paak who was sitting in one the chairs on the edge of the circular room stood up, and began to speak.
Paak (Scientist): ::Standing up:: If I may, Paak-
Paak (Magistrate): ::Turning to face Paak scientist:: No you may not. *Sit Down*, Paak Paak. When the time in these hearings are right, you will be called. Until then… shut your Paak.
There was a slight gasp from the remaining seated uniformed officers at the magistrate’s rudeness.
Wil though, was not having a bar of what was happening. He protested while two uniformed soldiers grabbed Wil by the upper arms, and led him away.
Ukinix: This is bull#$@... THIS IS BULL@#@^! ::To Robin:: Lieutenant Commander, find any way you can to contact Amity!
Hopper: Response
Ukinix: I’ll try!
With that, the door shut, and Wil was gone, taken to be held in military internment for the length of the tribunal proceedings.
