((USS Kepler – en route to United Alliance of Worlds Territory))

Hopper: –As a result of this pathogen, the systems of the Enterprise–  oO Is that ever not going to feel weird to say? Oo  –are too badly damaged to even travel at warp speed under their own power. I’ve agreed to use the Kepler’s tractor beam to tow them back towards their own space, for now. I’m hoping this can give us a chance to better understand the situation.

Ilid pulled down the cuffs of his sleeves while walking along beside Captain’s Hopper and Ashwood. For what it was worth the situation had been an immediately interesting one. An entire culture dedicated to the past of Starfleet in the region was a unique one to encounter.

Zakrem: It allows us the best chance to set our feet as well.

Ashwood: Have we considered the risk to the Kepler's crew from being exposed to the pathogen?

Hopper: Their commanding officer, Captain Ertmo, assures me that there’s little risk. Our crews biology shouldn’t be susceptible to the pathogen, and we’ll ensure a full decon screening on any transports onto the Kepler… That said, I’ve instructed Lieutenant Commander Iko and Lieutenant Wong to make sure their teams take proper precautions.

The group, dubbing itself the UAW, had been attacked by what they called a terrorist insurgent group called the Zumardi.

Ashwood: Captain :: pause for a breath :: Have we considered what the Zumardi hope to achieve with this insidious attack? If the UAW is to be believed.

A good point to start on.

Zakrem: Or have they actually laid claim to the attack?

Hopper: I’m not sure yet what it is, but something about this whole thing gives me the heebie-jeebies. I don’t think we’re getting the full picture…  ::Thinking::  It’s hard to imagine this Zumardi ‘insurgency’ taking it upon themselves to develop this pathogen, inflict it on these people, and withhold a cure unprovoked. There’s a piece here that Ertmo hasn’t shared yet. I’m hoping when we meet him we can learn more.

Zakrem: No attack is ever fully unprovoked, even if the victims don’t realize they caused it in the beginning.

They stepped into the transporter area and the operator nodded at them.

Operator: We’re ready here, ma’am. One to beam aboard.

Ilid placed his hands behind his back while he waited for the transport. He was still adjusting to the new position and the much lighter arms requirement to accomplish them. This mission would be a good test case for what he needed to do moving forward.

Hopper: Captain Ertmo. I’m Lieu–  Mm.  ::Correcting herself::  I’m Captain Robin Hopper of the USS Kepler. Welcome aboard. This is my Special Operations Officer, Chief Petty Officer Ilid Zakrem, and my–  Captain Nicolette Ashwood.

Ilid nodded his head keeping his hands to himself as he observed the new race.

Ertmo: It is good to meet you all. You have my deepest thanks.

Zakrem: It is a pleasure of ours to help.

Gesturing towards the door, Robin tried to move things forward.

Hopper: On behalf of the United Federation of Planets and Starfleet, I’d be happy to discuss further the challenges your people are dealing with and determine what sort of assistance we might be able to render. I suggest taking the conversation to our conference room for now, where we can talk candidly.

Ertmo: Of course, Captain. We’re very grateful for your involvement.

Ashwood: It will give you a chance to see more of the ship. I'm rather fond of her myself.

Hopper: The Kepler is, in fact, the same class of ship as the Voyager – we call it an Intrepid Class, though you may have known that already. She’s a fine ship, and recently upgraded. Captain Ashwood is typically the Commanding Officer however, given my familiarity with the region, I’ll be leading this mission.  ::Raising her eyebrows::  But I’m very curious to learn more about you and your ship, Captain.

Ertmo: I would love to offer you a tour in turn, Captain, but we’re in rather poor shape for guests at the moment.

Considering what infection was doing it was for the best until they knew more about it.

Ashwood: :: extends her arm :: After you, captains and Mister Zakrem.

They filed out of the room and started down the corridor. Ilid considered the frills and the tridactyl nature of their guest while they spoke.

Ertmo: Your Federation has been an inspiration to us. Our United Alliance of Worlds wouldn’t exist without your influence.

Zakrem: It has been an inspiration to many of its own members as well.

Hopper: Response

They entered the turbolift and Ilid clocked the movement on the back of the visitor’s uniform.

Ertmo: I am from Ilidaria, but it is my honor and duty to represent all our worlds.

Zakrem: I hope you do not mind that we have a slew of questions for you.

Hopper: Response

Ashwood: Captain Ertmo, I'd love to know more about the history of your people, how did this union come about?

The swell of pride seemed to carry across species but he wondered if it was natural or a mask from Voyager.

Ertmo: It was Voyager’s influence, of course!

Hopper: Response

Zakrem: How so?

Ertmo: The Terrellian government was most impressed by their actions, and sought out whatever information they could, a desire that they found mirrored by both my own people and the Yallitians.

Zakrem: It is good to know that three groups of people could come together so easily.

Hopper/Ashwood: Response

Ertmo: I have begun to worry that this insurgency is supported by those who had the opposite opinion of Voyager’s actions. But I must ensure my crew are cared for first.

A good instinct in a captain.

Zakrem: Which is the correct way to look at the situation.

Hopper/Ashwood: Response

Ertmo: We initially had hoped to model the Enterprise more closely on your vessels, but ::he raised a finger and extruded forth a thread from it, which he used to form a silhouette of a ship in the air.:: There were material limits. I’m sure it won’t trouble your experts.

The back of his uniform rustled rustled again and Ilid made note of the extrusion.

Hopper/Ashwood: Response

Zakrem: I should hope not they are well trained. I wonder if you know why this group would attack your ship specifically. Have any other vessels been attacked in your fleet?

Ertmo: Response?

Hopper: Response?

Zakrem: And they have claimed responsibility for the act? It couldn’t be another group?

Ilid chose to couch the concept in more comparison.

Zakrem: There is a history of that in the Federation after all.

Ertmo/Ashwood: Response?
