Kinolaisi stood on the rocky bluff, staring out at the sea, the smell of salt air and wind-brushed coastal herbs filling her nose as her Thalén – a bronze, semi-sheer draped garment fastened at one shoulder by a slim magnetic clasp and cut to move easily with the breeze – fluttered around her ankles. The warm sun overhead warmed her face and caused her to squint as the constantly shifting waves reflected the light back into her eyes while she scanned the coastal waters, noting all the small islands that dotted the bright cerulean waters.

The familiar chirp of the holodeck arch opening drew her attention, turning to confirm with her eyes who was joining her. Robin wore, but tried her best to hide, a slightly nervous smile as Ensign Galanis passed through the sliding doors. She raised a hand in greeting.

Hopper: Kéla vorin, Niev! ((Good day, Niev!))

Galanis: Response

Robin gestured at the scene behind her, which – as the arch closed – surrounded them on all sides. They were standing on a bluff atop a rocky island, dotted with gnarled trees and wispy scrub plants across its dynamic slopes that stepped and stumbled down to the gentler shores below. An archipelago of smaller, but visually-similar, islands were scattered throughout the surrounding sea.

Beside them, about half-a-dozen meters away, was a large stone obelisk that stood upright and proud despite centuries of weathering.

Hopper: Recognize this place?

Galanis: Response

She took a few steps towards the Ensign and passed them a tricorder, tuned to read the data coming from within the holodeck simulation as if it were all entirely real.

Hopper: My Tsavai, Phoenyra, recently sent me this collection of highly-detailed recreations from Velestus. They’re a modern day snapshot of several of the islands, down to the molecular level apparently. She called it a wedding present – I think maybe she was thinking Nate and I would honeymoon here – but she also included a request along with the data.  ::Chuckling::  She was hoping I could perform a few scans and experiments to verify the accuracy of the recreations…

Galanis: Response

Robin tilted her head back and forth a little as she smiled.

Hopper: I thought it might be a nice opportunity for the two of us to spend a little time together. I know Centaurans don’t typically like to push their culture on others, but being half-Centauran myself, I’ve always felt a draw to it. Any time my family would visit, when I was younger, I never wanted to leave…  Besides, who better to help me review simulations of Velestus than someone from there?

Galanis: Response
