(( Blue Line Train, Amity Outpost))

The train had just come to a gentle stop at the next station, Harrison paying no mind to the coming and going passengers instead focused on the small, thin device held in his hand.

The background was a generic one; an animated screensaver of a starry sky, a smaller interface was also on the screen, displaying a song titled “Journey - Don’t Stop Believin’”.

He pressed play as the doors hissed shut and the train started moving again. His mind was about to wander off again when a familiar figure stepped up in front of him.

Just a small-town girl, livin’ in a lonely world ~

S. Richards: Hey! Long time no see!

He looked up, pulling out one earphone. The song continued playing as she sat down.

She took the midnight train goin’ anywhere~

Blackwood: Hey you. It hasn’t been that long, come on.

Harrison’s smile was subtle but warm.

Just a city boy, born and raised in South Detroit~

S. Richards: How’ve you been? Where are you headed to?

As Sam adjusted in her seat next to him her knee came to rest against his. The closeness caught him off guard, it took him a minute to form a response.

He took the midnight train goin’ anywhere~

oO Okay, that’s enough of that. Oo

He pressed pause on the device, leaving it in his lap, an awkward chuckle escaped him.

Blackwood: I’m good, thanks. Just heading to use the Holodeck.

S. Richards: oh, that’s cool! I’m headed to the good ole science and research center. It’s practically where I live now.

The pair of them lock eyes, a moment of silence passing with Sam biting down on her bottom lip, Harrison’s pulse quickened at what could’ve been seen as a betrayal of her own nerves.

oO Is this really happening? Oo

Blackwood: That’s cool, that’s cool, I only go there for the holodeck or to look at star charts.

S. Richards: ::giving a sweet smile:: So.. where you headed off to? ::slapping her hand on her forehead:: Sorry! I already asked that, didn't I?

There was something of a triumphant expression at her little blunder, but his smugness melted away as he found himself drawn to the endearing blunder.

Blackwood: ::Soft chuckle:: Just a second ago, yes… ::He nudged her gently with his elbow:: But I just said the holodeck. That could be anywhere, kind of.

S. Richards: Response

Blackwood: I use it mainly for training purposes. Combat simulations, emergency procedures, and a bit of everything else to keep me on top of my game. I know, great use of my ‘free time’.

He shrugged, giving a look up at the list of destinations, they were just nearing main engineering.

oO Still a good bit to go. Hopefully, the Chief isn’t about to get on board… Oo

S. Richards: Response

The train came to another stop at the aforementioned station, Harrison’s attention was drawn to the doors as they slid open, he watched several gold-shirts enter and exit the carriage. He couldn’t see Nathan, but who knows where the man was. Suddenly he realised Sam was still speaking and looked back at her.

Blackwood: Oh yeah, definitely… ::Awkward pause:: Sorry. I got a little distracted by something

S. Richards: Response

Blackwood: Honestly? Just checking to make sure your brother wasn’t about to get on and see us.

He swallowed hard after he spoke, quickly adding to his words.

Blackwood: It wouldn’t bother me, for the record, just… being considerate. You know?

S. Richards: Response

The train doors shut again and it started moving to the next stop. Harrison sighed, a little relieved.

Blackwood: Tell me a little bit more about you, please. How come you’re out here in the DQ?

oO And what did I do to deserve it… Oo

S. Richards: Response
