Maybe they could be friends. Work friends, but friends. It would require an honest conversation with Chythar, but he didn’t have any reason to worry. He had to know that. They’d gone through some bumps over the last year, but their intimacy was the best it had ever been and she didn’t anticipate that changing anytime soon.
Chythar gave her all she needed. And more.
Orrey: Good news, bad news.
It took her a moment to register that Jansen had spoken and a moment or two more to process the meaning of the words.
Rosek-Skyfire: ::pauses:: I’m not growing a third eye, am I?
The attempt at humor was a mask for the sudden burst of anxiety that had set her heart thudding against her ribcage.
Now she REALLY wished she’d let Chythar come to the appointment.
Orrey: No still got the same four growing that you did before. However I do see a lot of elevated stress markers. Nothing to be deeply concerned for…yet, but something to watch for.
Rosek-Skyfire: Can it be managed?
Orrey: I mean anything can be managed. I would like to try and adjust your management a little. I am not going to remove anything but I am going to add a few nonsteroidal salves. A couple of them.
Salves. She could manage that. As long as they didn’t stink to high heaven, which some medical salves were known for. Maybe she could even talk Chythar into giving her a back massage under the guise of applying the salves thoroughly.
Oh, she could get used to that.
Before her mind could stray too far, she brought it back to the present.
Rosek-Skyfire: A couple?
Orrey: A couple of them because I want you to rotate usage. ::rocking his head back and forth as he considered:: Twice a day, like I said one one one day and then the other the next.
On some levels, that made sense, though she wasn’t a medical officer and couldn’t claim to understand the ins and outs. That was definitely Chythar’s area of expertise.
Rosek-Skyfire: ::nods:: Makes sense, I guess.
Orrey: Gel or cream preference, and have you got any other complaints?
She’d been working up her courage the whole session. Yes, ultimately, she was here about her health and the health of the babies she carried, but the thought hadn’t been far from her mind.
Rosek-Skyfire: Um, cream is fine. ::pauses:: And not so much a complaint as a personal request.
Orrey: Response
Rosek-Skyfire: ::cheeks coloring slightly:: Um, I couldn’t help but notice you’re on the list of crew on the Indy for the kids’ camp.
Orrey: Response
Rosek-Skyfire: ::smiles sheepishly:: I’m trying not to be a hover mom, but I talked Maddy into signing up just so she can keep an eye on her younger brother. The thing is, like all teenagers, she doesn’t want to be pestered by her little brother all the time and…well, can you maybe keep an eye on both of them? Make sure they don’t get in trouble?
Orrey: Response
Rosek-Skyfire: ::chews her lip:: Despite what happened between us and despite what I said and did to the contrary, I trust you to do the right thing. I know they’ll both be safe with you until they get back.
Orrey: Response
Rosek-Skyfire: You can take some time to think about it if you need to. ::brow furrows:: This is damned awkward, I’m sorry. I just–I need someone I can trust. They’re my babies and I–
Orrey: Response
