((Bridge, USS Independence-B))
Ukinix: Well this area of space is knackered then. =/\= Ukinix to all hands. Brace for crossover into underspace, I repeat, brace for crossover-- =/\=
There was an almighty “thud” that boomed through the hull, before the view screen showed them spinning, end over end, being drawn into the rift like a magnet. The stars and nebula gases whizzed upwards on the viewscreen, before it went dead. More sparks flew from consoles, before the ship shook one last time.
Silence. Comforting dark and silence…well minus the captain speaking. But that was good.
Ukinix: --into underspace.
Helm: Navigation systems can’t pinpoint our location.
Orrey: Call out. All of you.
Seleya: Still not dead.. ::She paused taking in a deep breath as she checked her console:: The structural damage collapsed the aft torpedo tubes, they are unresponsive. Shields are down to 70% but are holding steady.
Aitas: Present; minor cuts and bruises. Maintaining contact with Fureri.
Jansen reached up and rubbed his face before sitting forward and looking at his console. It was trying its hardest to stay on. He hit it with his closed fist twice before kicking the lower panel once and the view awoke. A large crack running down the interface but for now it was still functional.
Orrey: Hull breach Sector 3 Deck 4, that we expected though. No losses there.
Aitas: And what damage that we didn't expect?
Orrey: We didn't account for radiation spikes, major radiation leaks in Sections 6 and 7. Large injury reports, filtering in but some systems aren't functioning so I could be mission some numbers.
Wil glanced at Seleya when he sensed some concern in her before looking towards Aitas when she spoke.
Aitas: I can send Fureri to scout for the injured, if necessary.
Ukinix: Do it.
The viewscreen flickered back into life, showing the weird but strangely pretty patterning of the underspace corridor they now found themselves in.
Seleya: Captain, I am detecting another gravimetric disturbance.
Ukinix: Naturally occurring? Do we have any propulsion to get out of here?
Orrey: Unable to say at this point…
Seleya: It appears the Vaadwaur are still following us.
Aitas: Unfortunate. Communications are still sporadic; I will see what adjustments can be made.
Jansen adjusted his leg, bending and checking the movement after being braced in his chair against that much damage.
Ukinix: Jansen, quick scan of Aitas for me? And Seleya after that, given the rough day she’s been through.
The doctor nodded his head and stood up again. It took a moment before he spotted a medical tricorder on the floor that he scooped up on his way over toward his first patient.
Orrey: Working on it. Then I am checking on you.
Saavei: =/\= Saavei to Bridge, you have maneuvering thrusters. Impulse power will be restored shortly. =/\=
Aitas: =/\= Thank you. The Vaadwaur have followed us in. Do you need any additional support? =/\=
Taelon/Wong/Shanaak/Bridge: =/\= Response =/\=
Saavei: =/\= Bridge, impulse power has been restored via the secondary couplings. =/\=
He found nothing immediately wrong with Aitas and so nodded his head during the talk while moving across the bridge.
Ukinix: =/\= Thanks Ensign, we’ll start moving down the corridor ::nods to helm to follow instruction.:: =/\=
Helm: Aye, sir.
Taelon/Wong/Shanaak: =/\= Response =/\=
Aitas: =/\= There are a few injured personnel near you; I can direct them your way. =/\=
Ukinix: =/\= What is your status, are you all healthy? Ikaia? =/\=
Taelon/Wong/Shanaak: =/\= Response =/\=
Ukinix: =/\= Let’s get everyone and everything patched up, the Vaadwaur have followed us into underspace. We’ll remain at red alert. Ukinix out. =/\=
Aitas: Is the rift still large enough for the Trenvonn vessel?
Orrey: ::doing a cursory scan with the tricorder wand:: Let me know the second you feel anything. For now you are doing just fine and I assume it is because we are so far away from the damage.
Seleya: Response
Ukinix: They were 15 minutes away, it depends if it stays open for that long. Can we hail them from in here?
Aitas: We'll need more significant repairs before we have much range on comms; they'd have to be very close.
Jansen took the time to give Wil a once over as well.
Orrey: You are as stable as ever my friend.
Seleya: Response
On the viewscreen was a new phenomenon-- wispy looking space that glimmered, then rippled.
Aitas: Is that a new tunnel? It appears...deeply unstable.
Ukinix: Let’s not find out. Helm, get us away from that thing as fast as we can.
Helm: Commander, there’s three corridor entrances we can choose from.
Orrey: 33% eh, we have faced worse odds out here.
Seleya: Response
Ukinix: Any sign or signal from the Daintree?
Orrey: Nothing yet but with the comms still being patched together we may be able to get a signal out before they can. If we came through in this state they can’t be much better off.
Aitas/Seleya: Response
Ukinix: Let’s see if the Vaadwaur are here to help or hinder us. Hail them.
Helm: Aye commander, hailing.
Ysal: =/\= Response =/\=
Ukinix: =/\= We didn’t want to come in here this way. Besides, we’re in neutral space, the Vaadwaur don’t own these corridors. =/\=\
Ysal: =/\= Response =/\=
Ukinix: =/\= What happened almost forty years ago has no bearing on today. =/\=
Ysal: =/\= Response =/\=
Ukinix: =/\= We are not aggressors, but we will defend ourselves if we have to. =/\=
As Wil ended the call Jansen sat down at his console again with a heavy sigh.
Ukinix: By making the rift mad, I think we may have also made the Vaadwaur mad.
Wil tapped at his armrest again.
Ukinix: =/\= Bridge to Engineering. What’s our warp status? =/\=
Taelon/Saavei: =/\= Response =/\=
The ship rocked, and Jansen planted a foot. That was weapons fire.
Ukinix: Okay, so apparently what happened almost forty years ago *does* affect today. Seleya, return fire, target their weapons.
Seleya: Response
The ship shook again and Jansen turned toward his work station.
Ukinix: Which corridor likely leads us back to anywhere near Amity?
Orrey: Since we were studying the central one I would wager on either side one.
Ukinix/Aitas/Seleya: Response?
Orrey: Seleya, I am opening up the science sensors to your targeting controls as well. We might be able to take them out of the fight. I don’t think it would hurt anyone’s feelings if we collapsed their torpedo tubes as well even this fight out perhaps.
Aitas/Seleya: Response
Orrey: I am widening the area shut off from the hull breach. If we have to take a hit try to take it there. Wil, can you reroute those power relays away from those areas so the EMP just goes dark?
Ukinix/Aitas: Response?
