((Flashback – 10ish minutes earlier, Noble Visiting Chambers, Idrustix Colony))

M-Keehani: I’m sorry, Ambassador, you will not be returning for some time.  It could be years, it may be never.  ::Addressing everyone in room:: All of you are now part of my inner circle.  The Empire is soon to become more powerful.  And you will all be part of it.  Failure to comply… well, ::rolling hand:: you know.  But do not deny the opportunity that awaits you.

“Her” Rivi got down on one knee, and placed her four fingers on her head.

M-Rivi: It is an honour, Mother Eternal.  I accept, and I shall serve you as your loyal subject.  ::Looking up, hopefully voice:: And… Tidrid?

There was a smirk on the Empress’ face.

M-Keehani: Tidrid is still in confinement, but has not been in an agony booth for over a year.  I will permit you to see him soon.  But his attempt to overthrow the Empire during Vaxa Ukinix’s reign has not been forgiven yet.

The Empress turned to leave the room, the metallic lines in her pink robe shining as she walked.

Keehani: This... ::panting anxiously:: … this is madness.  You would derail a chance for peace?  Attack our colleagues?  Are you stupid!

Unimpressed, M-Keehani’s pursed her lips together, before gesturing to the guards that were holding her doppelganger by her arms.

M-Keehani: ::To Guards:: Bring her with me.  I want to talk to her.  ::Gesturing to others, before gesturing to the table:: Eat.

Keehani: No… NOOO!!! ::Screaming:: PUT ME DOWN!  PUT ME DOWN… ::crying::

The guards took Keehani out of the room.  M-Keehani gave the people in the room one last determined look, before leaving the room, followed by the psionic specialist Izemu in tow.

Vataix: She can’t honestly expect us to just sit here and eat…

M-Wil: She can because she’s a psychotic-

One of the Ninth Wing guards hit the lowly Wil Ukinix, ungrateful illegitimate cousin of the Empress,

Guard: Speak ill of the Mother Eternal again, and those will be the last words you speak!

M-Rivi: ::To M-Wil:: Ungrateful, inbred freak.  ::Turning to guard:: Given that I am the Empress’ personal bounty hunter, am I permitted to leave?  I need to speak with her regarding an urgent matter, and you wouldn’t want her to find out I was kept here.

Rivi activated her faux smile, tilted her head to the side, and let her fake sunny disposition be sensed by the Ninth Wing guard.  She even deliberately batted her eyelashes a few times, to mockingly show how nice and genuine she was.

With a grunt, the guard said nothing, but gestured towards the door.  With a sudden neutral expression, and with no emotion at all, she took one last look at the captured group, before leaving the room quickly.

After nodding to the guards that were stationed outside, she began down a corridor and kept walking.  Ten metres down the hallway she looked over her shoulder.  Sensing that no-one was watching or following her, she quickly darted down an adjacent corridor…

((End Flashback))

((Hallway, Idrustix Colony))

The prison was in chaos.  Somehow, a prison riot had broken out, and for once, Rivi Ukinix had felt like The Four was on her side.  The parallel universe version of herself (with the last name of “Vataix”!) had largely ignored her.  That suited her fine.  In fact, the appearance of the parallel universe fools had distracted Empress Ukinix so much it had given Rivi an “air bubble” to enact her plan…

The prison riot had served to only make that plan easier.

She had killed two prison guards, three prisoners, and had injured several more of both.  But in that process she had found what she was looking for, and was now making her escape.

Up ahead in the corridor she could see bodies.  She turned to the person behind her, and raised her palm to tell the frail, tired person to stay where they were.  She then crept forward, slowly, lifting her left hand that had a disruptor rifle in it.

As she got closer, she saw that one of the bodies was wearing a pink dress, that had silver shiny lines all through it.  The body also had no shoes.

M-Rivi: oO The Empress… Oo

And then she sensed it.  The feeling of revenge from someone with a dark, dark tholtren.  She silently scurried forward as fast and as quietly as she could, then poked her head around the corner just enough to see Initiate Nathan Richards tripping over a soldier’s body, before he pulled a knife from under his overcoat.  He held the knife at his side as the Initiate approached Empress Ukinix to kill her…

Before she fired her disruptor to stop him.  The masked Terran dropped to the ground with a thud.  She stepped forward, adjusted to a stronger setting on her rifle, before firing again once more to make sure he wouldn’t get up.

Crouching down, she pressed two fingers against the neck of the lifeless body of Nathaniel Richards to confirm he was in fact dead.  After feeling no pulse, she turned to look at the Empress.  It seemed she wasn’t dead, but just stunned.

Rivi turned her head to look both ways along the long corridor to make sure no one else was coming, before slipping her arms under the Empress.  With a heave, Niarivi lifted Mother Eternal Keehani Ukinix, before carrying her to a nearby weapons storage area that was recessed in the wall.  She gently placed the stunned body of the Empress down on the ground, before stepping back outside.

Rivi fingers furiously danced across the small console that was on the wall, which made the small storage area’s door slide shut.  The Empress was now safe inside.  After a few more presses, the console flashed red to indicate that not only was the door locked, but that there was a system error and it would take a technician to get the door open again.  She stepped back, then fired her rifle one last time, destroying the console making it even harder for anyone to try and gain access.

Satisfied that the Empress now both safe and temporarily imprisoned, Rivi rushed back to the person she had left in the adjacent hallway.  She smiled and interlocked her fingers with Tidrid Chaxx, the imprisoned lover she hadn’t seen in over a decade.  He was gaunt, quiet, and seemed broken.  But he was hers again.

M-Rivi: ~~ Come, my love.  Today we begin our new life – in search of New Haven. ~~

Was New Haven real, or just a myth?  She understood that the former Empress, Vaxa Ukinix, had secretly dedicated resources to find it.  Keehani Ukinix however had stopped that project once she became Empress, not believing that it existed.

Rivi Ukinix had more of an open mind.  She believed it was real – or maybe she wanted it to be real.

The Daughter Ascendant and bounty hunter quickly turned and led Tidrid down the shiny white corridor, in the direction of where she knew she could steal a patrol ship, and leave the Empire forever.
