((OOC – This is a Shore leave sim set between the end of the Mission / Trial and Wong’s sim, “Lo-fi Klingon”, while he’s briefly back on Amity before his Paak university course.))
((Hopper’s Apartment – Shortly After Returning from Paak))
Home sweet home… At first, Robin had struggled to ‘settle in’ to her apartment on Amity. After the spartan accommodations of the Academy and the close shared junior officers’ quarters of the USS Wall Street, adjusting to the relatively ‘lavish lifestyle’ afforded the senior officers on the Outpost – proper individual apartments, with numerous rooms and amenities – had been harder than she’d expected. It had taken time to feel like it was really ‘her space’, rather than some large lonely island she was inhabiting all on her own.
Now, after nearly a week spent in-and-out of a Paak brig, she never wanted to leave her apartment again. The proper food, her cozy fireplace, and the comfortable bed were all lovely… but for the first time, the knowledge that she could well and truly feel alone there (with nobody watching or studying her) filled her not with an anxious desire to get out there and connect, but the blissful serenity of absolute freedom. She slept in. She ate replicated pizza for breakfast. She lay in her conversation pit reading Agatha Christie in her underwear. It was wonderful.
After a couple days of recharging, though, and with the necessary return to duties impending, there was one formality which required addressing… a medical check-up. Robin was still getting over the indignity of being poked and prodded by the Paak “doctors”, who wielded needle and x-ray with the coldest hands she’d ever felt – and while she felt no such ill will towards her friend, and Amity’s CMO, Ikaia Wong, the thought of leaving her homey “den” and venturing to the Sickbay (or, worse yet, facing that infernal Mark VII EMH that seemed to keep popping up) to see him felt almost impossible. Still, something had to be done – and quickly, based on Ikaia’s quickly-shrinking window of availability.
Hopper: ::Brushing cookie crumbs off her shirt:: =/\= Hopper to Wong – we still on for our ‘date’ this evening? =/\=
She had sold it to him as a combination ‘house call’ and ‘friend date’ – a chance for the two old academy buddies to spend some quality time out of the office, connecting with each other over dinner at hers… The fact that she could also get her routine check-up out of the way, uninterrupted, in the comfort and privacy of her home, was merely a delightfully convenient coincidence.

Moving about her apartment, picking up pillows and blankets and half-finished snacks, Robin smiled. After a few days of solitude, spending a little time with an old friend didn’t seem like such a bad idea – but she could never let him see how messy she’d let things get in only 48 hours.
Hopper: =/\= I’ll be ready. Just doing a little, uh, ‘housekeeping’... ::Dumping several plates into the replicator:: What do you feel like? Stir Fry? Big Salad? Sushi? =/\=

((That Evening))
At the chime of her doorbell, Robin practically skipped to the door of her (now much tidier) Beijing District apartment. She’d decided that, no matter how close she and Ikaia were, she ought not answer the door in only her underwear – so she had dressed for company in a comfortable (yet stylish) black-and-white dress with an asymmetrical zip up the front, designed in the mid 2270s by a Centauran designer named Elara Kalixos in an attempt to marry the prevailing Federation trends of the 2260s with the bolder, more angular, styles of the 2270s.
Opening the door, she greeted her Klingon pal with a wide grin and an enthusiastic hug before he’d even entered her apartment.
Hopper: Heya Ikaia! Good to see you. ::Releasing him:: Come on in. ::Gesturing around the place:: Beats the hell out of my little hovel back in San Fran, hmm?
The two of them had spent plenty of time around Amity’s food court, in peace park, and even at the Ambassador’s residence – and, of course, had oft-overlapping schedules in the SRC’s Starfleet Medical labs – but this marked the first occasion she’d had the opportunity to host him since their days at the Academy, and she was quite proud of what she’d made of her place.
Wong: Response
Hopper: Make yourself at home. E Komo Mai! ::Beat:: That’s the saying, right? ::Big Grin:: Oh, we have so much to catch up on… Can I grab you a drink? ::Moving towards the kitchen:: I see no reason not to mix business with pleasure, given the circumstances. We’ve both had tough weeks.
