((Amity Outpost – Habitat Ring, Beijing District))
Hopper: ::Smiling:: Now, this is more like it!
The second apartment was on the second floor of a multi-level structure consisting of two side-by-side ‘buildings’ with a little ‘lane’ running between them. It was certainly evocative of some of Earth’s older cities. Most importantly, it looked as if each apartment was a floor unto itself. The square footage was likely smaller than the last apartment, but it would all be on a single level – and that sounded perfect.
Hopper: Show me what you got, S’Raga!
They marched up the stairs and, after a brief moment for the Ensign to unlock the door, stepped through. Already, at a glance, Robin found the layout far more promising – and the simulated “natural” light streaming in from the windows along the left-most wall gave a warm and cozy ambiance that the last place had lacked.
S’Raga: ::Putting on his best realtor impersonation:: Much more "open-concept" here, as you can see. This big space here taking up the whole left side is the living room, dining room, and kitchen in the back there. The French doors to your right lead into an office space, and beside the office is a powder room. If you walk down towards the kitchen and go around the corner to the right, you'll find the den with a fireplace...
Robin nodded, walking further in, already imagining where things might go. The floorspace did seem somewhat smaller than the last apartment they had looked at, but you wouldn’t know it. Layout would make all the difference.
S’Raga: And the door to the master bedroom and ensuite. The doors at the very back, beside the kitchen, open up to a balcony with plenty of room for a bistro set and a few planters.
Hopper: Wow. S’Raga, you’ve outdone yourself here. ::Turning around to face the HCO with a beaming smile:: This place is like night and day compared to the last one.
S'Raga: Also, the den has another feature that I think you'll really enjoy. You should go take a look!
Robin’s face readily conveyed her excited curiosity as she turned and strode quickly to the end of the living space, poking her head around the corner and looking into the den. A loud squeak of surprise escaped her lips before she looked back at S’Raga.
Hopper: Ah!!! ::Back to S’Raga:: Seriously?!
She kicked off her shoes and made her way down the carpeted steps into the den’s recessed ‘conversation pit’, with a small central fireplace situated at one end. She walked over to the fireplace and brushed her hand along the curved bronze metal that ensconced it.
S'Raga: So, what do you think?
Turning around and finding the Ensign behind her, PADD in hand, she held her hands out, pointing at the room surrounding her.
Hopper: Are you #$%&ing kidding me?
S’Raga: Response
Hopper: ::Hands on hips:: My better judgment is telling me that I ought to see whatever else you have on that list, but I have to say… this really ticks all the boxes. I didn’t think a place like this would exist on Amity.
S’Raga: Response
Hopper: Okay, okay, but we should at least look at the other listings on your PADD. You know, maybe this place is perfect, but that doesn’t mean another place couldn’t be even more perfect.
Despite herself, she couldn’t resist spinning in place a few times, enjoying the soft floor under her bare feet. The thought of someone else living there was hard to consider.
S’Raga: Response
Hopper: Okay, let me see… ::Walking up the stairs and looking at the listing on S’Raga’s PADD:: I don’t think the layout of this one will serve quite as well… And this one doesn’t have enough light for the plants. I’d have to install UV and that’s going to take away from the ambiance… And, oh, that looks nice, but here I’m practically neighbors with Rivi.
She looked up at the Caitian earnestly.
Hopper: I… don’t think I’m going to give any of these other places a fair chance. I think I’m in love.
S’Raga: Response
