((D’Cyras Apartment, Marrakech District, Amity Outpost))

D’Cyra actually didn't feel like it. No. She didn't feel like it... For days, she had barely left her apartment, drawing the blinds to block out the artificial daylight and light cycles. She had only jogged through the park when there was little activity, avoiding any gathering of people.

She had sent many messages to her older brother and Rasz's family. But despite the modernized Pathfinder transmission, the messages took forever to arrive, and the replies felt like they took even longer.

The appointment tone sounded on her PADD. But it was... it was in the bedroom on the vanity. What appointment was that? D’Cyra was officially on vacation. So she pulled herself up from the couch and padded into the bedroom. The large bed resembled a dune landscape someone had created with blankets and pillows. She had been sleeping somewhere in there for the past few days... As a child, she had always built such bed forts at home and fallen asleep blissfully in them. But as an adult, that no longer worked.

She took the PADD from the vanity and unlocked it. Oh, the appointment with Lt. Nevark! She would definitely have forgotten it without the reminder! Fortunately, she still had enough time to freshen up and dress appropriately for her meeting with the new counsellor. The last time she had been to a counselling session was at the academy, and she hadn't been particularly keen on it.

((A few minutes later, Lt. Layla Nevark’s counselling room, Amity Outpost))

D’Cyra’s slightly curly hair fell down to her chest, over her shoulders and onto her back. She wore a tight black top and a black pencil skirt. Her tights had diagonal lines of varying thickness, creating a hatching pattern. The stiletto heels of her black shoes made her at least a hand's breadth taller. Only the toe of the shoe had a hint of colour in the form of lacing indicated by red thread.

She entered the counselling office of Lt. Nevark. Luckily, no one was there yet, so she had a moment to look around and somehow get a first impression of the new counsellor.

Quite a classic, actually: chairs, a couch, a desk, and beanbags. Anyone who sat down in those places would immediately need an appointment with a chiropractor. And a craft corner? For when things got a bit rough or you didn't have any more porcelain to break at home? Or maybe just to express things you couldn't verbally express...

Since it was almost completely silent in the room and she hadn't heard any footsteps yet, she tried out every seat – except for the beanbags. Finally, she sat backwards on one of the chairs, her head leaning against the headrest, and looked around sideways as Lt. Nevark entered the room.

Varati: ::surprised:: Oups! Oh, I didn't even hear you coming! I just wanted to try …

Well, wonderful... how you can ruin a first impression forever in seconds. What must it have looked like, sitting there on that chair, her head tilted to the side.

Nevark: Response

D’Cyra quickly stood up to greet the consultant in a somewhat appropriate manner.

Varati: Sorry, I don't usually do that in unfamiliar offices... Nice to meet you, Lt. Nevark. Or do you prefer to be called counsellor? I'm Ensign... D'Cyra Varati.

D’Cyra smiled shyly and then carefully extended her hand in greeting.

Nevark: Response

Varati: Okay... let's get started, shall we? I haven't been to a counselling session since the academy...

Nevark: Response
