((Captain’s Ready Room, USS Independence-B))
Aitas: Captain Ashwood, if you could handle the immediate emergency? Our two envoys still have their messages to send.
Last time she checked she was the commanding officer of a starship but for some that didn't seem to matter around here. Now they were onboard one that now had a destroyed ready room and a diplomat was giving out the orders… Lettie gave her a look that she hoped conveyed that point.
Ertmo: I…uh, yes.
Ashwood: It's okay :: to Ar'a'Dal :: Let's get that pathogen information to the Kepler.
She knew her ship would obey the chain of command and behave appropriately at least.
Ar’a’Dal: Response
Ertmo: =/\= This is Captain Ertmo to the USS Kepler. To Ar’a’Dal has agreed to share pathogen research with your people; in response I am asking that Admiral Mokto be placed in protective custody at least until Captain Peronis and myself are able to pursue a diplomatic solution with the Zumardi government. I am attaching the details. =/\=
Hopper: =/\= Response =/\=
Lettie nodded to Ertmo, it was fitting that he was the one to deliver the news. She wondered if he knew how significant a step it was. She felt a spark of pride. When they had first come to them she had admitted to a sense of smug satisfaction that these species had emulated the Federation, which had slowly turned to horror when she realised the true impact of the cultural contamination. Now, she knew that at least Ertmo had taken the values that they all shared to heart, and he was willing to live by them. Her hope was that the Zumardi would see this as a positive sign and not one of weakness to exploit. She surveyed Ar'a'Dal and she thought that they may have as decency in them, at least they didn't seem to want to use a dangerous pathogen anymore.
Ashwood: This is a historical moment Captain Ertmo and To Ar'a'Dal. I am humbled by both you. It's not been easy but you've done what's best for both your people.
Ar’a’Dal: Response
Aitas: Thank you, Captain. ::she turned from him to Ashwood and Ar’a’Dal:: I’ve no doubt this attack will be another factor in the negotiations, but I appreciate that we have gotten this far nonetheless.
Ashwood: It would seem that the UAW and the Zumardi will have a lot of work ahead of them. I just hope that this could be the start of something new, and collaborative?
Aitas/Ertmo/Ar’a’Dal: Response
Now that that seemed to have dealt with itself, Lettie turned to the disaster recovery teams and began to coordinate fixing Captain Ukinix’s ready room, if it was even possible. When the door slid open and the engineers entered she smiled. There was a whole and the room had been emptied of all it's furniture. At least there was no life's lost.
Aitas/Ertmo/Ar’a’Dal: Response
Ashwood: Nothing a lick of paint won't fix.
