((Ambassador Turnbull’s Office, USS Shelby))

She hadn't quite moved to the Embassy building just yet, unfortunately. There were still some finalisations with the Shelby to sort out—ones she hoped to rectify as soon as possible.

Commander Nilsen had been a wonderful assistance with any matters she required. He was someone she could call upon—and trust—to get just about anything done. And quickly. She was going to miss his productivity when he eventually returned to the Gamma Quadrant, but in the meantime, she would use his help to her advantage.

Nilsen: So on my side, everything is just ahead of schedule; however, the delivery I mentioned the other day is still stuck at Terminal C of Amity, and I wasn’t able to get it to move. ::to Richards:: Sir, can I ask if you are able to help that move along?

Richards: Response

Turnbull nodded. She was sure Keehani's faith in Amity personnel was warranted, but the Diplomatic mission of the Quadrant was at a standstill until Hyacinth could get herself set up.

Turnbull: That would be much appreciated.

Nilsen: It is very important it gets moving. Ambassador, you said you wanted to talk to us about crew assignments.

Turnbull: Yes.

She turned to Richards. She'd seen his record. Her decision was feeling more and more solid.

Turnbull: As you know, beginning an Embassy takes alot of staff.

Richards: Response

Nilsen: I’ll see to it that those arrangements are made right away.

Turnbull: ::nodding to Nilsen:: Thank you. ::to Richards:: Commander Nilsen suggested some additional operations personnel to be stationed at the Embassy. A few of our own, in case we cannot get the station's assistance for any reason.

Nilsen/Richards: Response

She shook her head.

Turnbull: No. While there will be a small starfleet presence, it's important to have a distinct balance between Starfleet and the FDC. Much of the compliment on Idrustix will be civilian personnel.

She knew many of both FDC and Starfleet disagreed with her decisions to have them more specialised and separated. But after experience working within United Earth, she had come to the conclusion that if each “department” so to speak were too interconnected, the influence of each department prevented anything from getting done. Others seemed to agree, or at least understood that she knew what she was doing. After all, if one was nominated to become an officer of the order of Australia, then she must have been doing something right. Right?

Nilsen/Richards: Response

Turnbull: It just so happens that the Shelby's current chief engineer is transferring to Idrustix for some calmer service before he retires, and as such, the Shelby needs a replacement. I understand that you have an important job as chief of Operations on Amity, but I would like to offer you the role.

Nilsen/Richards: Response
