(( Emergency LZ, Outside Zumaris High Command ))
Zakrem: You need to give the order for us to get involved on the ground Sir. ::looking at Taelon:: Or we need to hold to our mandate of observation.
Taelon: You’re, um, right. I…
Zakrem: I am not saying we do not need to give them all the tools in the world but I am saying need to tamp down our interference. That line is rapidly approaching.
Moore: Response
Zakrem: General if your plan is to meet them in the field then do it. Engage if they engage. That is the right way to handle this. From there it becomes standard engagement rules. Fight how the Zumardi have always fought.
She looked at Zakrem again with another annoyed look. That was what she had ordered her troops to do earlier.
Taelon: Alright. Alright - Moore, no e-war suite. Get one of the Zumardi’s computer terminals, and we will see what they can, um, do.
This time she raised an eyebrow to Taelon. She had not been asked if they could use their computers. She hoped the Starfleet officers were not planning to overstep their welcome.
Byu’I’Vera: I would need to know what you are doing before I allow any of you access to our computer systems. You are still a foreign power. We hope you understand.
Zakrem/Moore: Response
Taelon: Zakrem is, um, right. We are here to advise. Not to - not to do things on our own. And, um, I don’t want to lose my career. So - Moore, tell Iko not to activate the suite, not until we get an order to, um, do that. And hope she doesn’t launch those torpedoes….
Zakrem/Moore: Response
Taelon: General, your comms network and orbitals should be, um, capable of producing the effect we - I mean, an effect that would help you. An EMP tuned for their systems would delay them, at the very, um, least….
Before Taelon could finished their badged chirped, and next an unfamiliar voice came through.
Hopper: =/\= This is Captain Robin Hopper, of the USS Kepler to all people now present in the Zumaris system. With support from the United Federation of Planets' Diplomatic Corps and Starfleet, representatives of the Zumardi High Council and the United Alliance of Worlds have met and conducted negotiations for a ceasefire in the current conflict. While these conditions are temporary, and will require continued negotiations between all parties in good faith, your people have already shown that this kind of collaboration is possible, despite your history... =/\=
Byu’I’Vera couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief at that. She was not looking forward to the fighting. Hopefully this meant this was a step in the right direction.
Taelon: A ceasefire…
Byu’I’Vera: It seems that your Federation has achieved something. We understand.
Zakrem/Moore: Response
Hopper: =/\= The Zumardi High Council have agreed to share their research on the pathogen that is now affecting the UAW's ships and crews. Our scientists are close to synthesizing a cure, and we've found a technical solution that should render the virus inert... With the Zumardi's help, I'm confident we will be able to provide aid that will stop this pathogen in its tracks and prevent further loss of life. ::A brief pause:: The Alliance has made concessions as well. Captain Ertmo, of the Astrofleet's flagship, Enterprise, has ordered the arrest of Admiral Mokto, until diplomatic talks have reached their conclusion. Under his authority, the Federation is now doing exactly that... =/\=
Zakrem/Moore: Response
Taelon: We’ve had, um, very lucky timing. But I’ll - it’s still good.
Hopper: =/\= Admiral Mokto is now in our custody, in accordance with Alliance law... Captain Ertmo, representative To Ar'a'Dal, I'd like to invite you now, along with First Secretary Aitas of the Federation Diplomatic Corps and Captain Nicolette Ashwood of Starfleet, to speak to the ceasefire agreement that has been negotiated and to call on your people to stop military action immediately. =/\=
Ertmo: =/\= Thank you, Captain. Our current agreement involves the exchange of reparations for deaths on both sides, the UAW giving up any claim to Zumaris or its local system, and aid from the Zumardi in stopping this pathogen. I would like to thank Captain Peronis of the UAW Drake for her support in this endeavor, as well as my counterpart in these negotiations, Senior Scientist To Ar’a’Dal. =/\=
Aitas: =/\= Such situations cannot be fully solved in a day, but what these two envoys have built can become a strong foundation for the future. One I look forward to seeing you both build. =/\=
Zakrem/Moore: Response
Hopper: =/\= What was accomplished here today was just the first step in a long road to mutual respect. But the first steps have been taken... Great civilizations – those that value peace, prosperity, and equity for all – are founded on these kinds of agreements. The Federation is proof of that. Now, I hope that you will allow us to support you as your worlds find your own path to that... greater understanding. =/\=
Byu’I’Vera: Quite a speech from your Captain. We will see if it holds any weight in the coming days. We wish to understand.
Zakrem/Moore: Response
Taelon: General…thank you for your, well, understanding. And, um, good luck. Peace isn’t easy, but so, um, so long as it’s a shared goal, it can be achieved.
She watches the rather large man give his salute. She had to say she would not miss these officers, but at least hopefully both them and the Alliance would be out of her hair at last.
Still they were able to negotiate a peace agreement, and that was more than they had before. Perhaps they would not be losing their homes today.
