Keehani: You know, I could always arrange a short internship for her here as part of her studies. Hands on experience is something I didn’t get much of during my studies, I’d be happy to arrange it.
That made Robin pause, surprisingly to Keehani. And it seemed to cause some angst in her…
Hopper: ::Slowly:: Uhhh… I don’t know about that… I mean, not to say it wouldn’t be great experience for her. It’s just…
For some reason, Keehani, very briefly, got a vision of some sort of banana flavoured, cold dessert. She ignored it.
Hopper: ::Drawing in on herself:: …I can foresee some challenges.
Keehani moved to reassure the science officer.
Keehani: It’s kind of a… I don’t know, ::tilting head from side to side::, I want to help nurture younger people like me that want to get into this field.
Hopper: Oh. ::Blinking:: That’s nice.
Keehani: ::Smiling:: One day I hope to be an Ambassador like Rivi. I’ve realised since being here how much I have to learn before I can get to that point. But- ::Shrug, confident tone:: … one day I will ::smile::
There was apparently some tension from Robin at the suggestion… were things not great between her and her sister?
Hopper: Yes… I mean, I’m sure. You seem like someone who can achieve whatever she puts her mind to.
Keehani gave her a cordial smile.
Keehani: Anyway, I have another meeting unfortunately in a few minutes, but do tell me, is there anything the FDC can do for the SRC, either the Starfleet or civilian contingents? Science plays a vitally important part of our mission here in the Delta quadrant, and I can make requests to Ambassador Vataix to speed up things. ::Slight smile:: And your First Officer, of course.
Hopper: Hmm? Well, I’m still settling into the role. It’s a very large department, and there’s a lot of work still to do post-upgrades, but progress is being made. I, um, will definitely reach out if anything comes up. ::Smiling tentatively:: Thank you.
Robin stood up and offered her hand. Keehani matched her, and shook it. She also sensed that Robin was smiling, but was forcing herself to.
oO Wow I really hit a nerve. Oo
Keehani: Thank you, Commander. It’s been wonderful to meet you.
Hopper: I really appreciate you taking the time to chat with me. It was great to get to meet you, Keehani. ::Correcting self:: Uh, First Secretary.
Keehani: Oh. ::Hand wave:: Keehani is fine. Unless we’re in a diplomatic situation. Then it’s First Secretary ::smile, wink::
Hopper: Thanks again – for the chat, and the tea. ::Smile, slightly less worried:: ‘Til next time.
Keehani: You’re welcome. See you around.
As Robin left, Keehani turned to her PADD to see what her next meeting was. It read, “Luminary Prarim – access to Emissary Ukinix”.
Keehani: ::Slowly closing eyes:: oO Oh, by the Four… Oo
Sure enough, the Luminary showed himself into the meeting room.
Prarim: Ahhh… The light shines upon you, First Secretary! I have been trying to make an appointment with your cousin, Emissary Ukinix – but every time we have a conversation he seems to forget what we have just been discussing… It’s almost as though there are two of him!
After a sharp inhale of breath, Keehani turned to give a genuine warm smile to the Hawlat.
Keehani: Luminary. Lovely to see, you please have a seat. Can I replicate you a tea?
[End Scene for Keehani]
