She ran a hand briefly through her dark, cropped blue-black hair, again shrugging.
Lor: Emar (father) is a civil logistics coordinator, and emara (mother) is a civilian transport pilot. Ironically, that’s how they met. I’ve always been more into how machines work.
Aitas: Logistics, you say?
Lor: Emar’s job? Oh, kind of boring really, but important. Basically makes sure shipments and things get where they need to go. Emara’s job is pretty obvious.
Aitas: Being this far out does make the importance of such shipments a bit more evident, in my experience.
Growing up, as much as she’d appreciated that, without Emar’s job, they wouldn’t have many of the essentials they needed, numbers and data-tracking sheets (at least inventory sheets and shipping schedules) had always seemed so boring.
Gwenhwyfar: And lét it néver bê understâted, the válue of a dédicated and intrépid pîlot, nô mâtter the crâft or cârgo they flŷ.
She nodded. Now the flying part, she could get behind. While she was a duty officer, she liked flying. It was her second love and, if called to serve, an area she’d happily dedicate herself to. For now, she was content being a jack of all trades.
Gwenwhyfar: I’m sûre as the Federâtion contínues to expând its fôotprint, hêre in the Barossa séctor and beyônd, the Délta Quâdrant wîll undôubtedly sêe a sûrge of demând bôth for skîlled pîlots and logistícians.
Aitas: I am hopeful that Idrustix’s development will be helpful on the supply account, but that will take some time.
Gwenwhyfar: Sômething I âm sûre we âre âll fóllowing with êqual mêasures of intrîgue.
Though she’d done some research on Amity and the surrounding area prior to her arrival, she was far from an expert. She made a mental note to dig a bit deeper, simply nodding in response.
Aitas: It’s only the one stop to the Mezzanine. I must recommend the view of the nebula there, though if you have time later to visit the observation deck then that’s even better.
Gwenwhyfar: I shâll bê stópping bŷ the “Brew Continuum” to fînd mŷself a cûppa, if ányone wôuld bê ínterested in jôining mê. It is lôcated on the ûpper lével of the Mezzanine, nôt fâr from the éntrance to Copernicus Center – whîch is whêre, Lieuténant Lor, you wîll fînd the Commânding Ófficer you sêek… and the afôrementioned vîew, whîch I cân affîrm, is quîte arrésting.
Vexa tilted her head slightly to the left, then smiled and nodded politely. Perhaps once her duties for the day had concluded, she would see it for herself. She might possibly even be able to locate appropriate entertainment for the evening. She’d been drowning herself in work and could use the distraction.
Lor: I’ll bear that in mind. Thank you.
Aitas: There are times the view mostly reminds me of how far out we are. And others where it reminds me of how much more there is to see. ::she waved her hand at the door as the train began to slow again.:: I don’t believe I’ve ever met a Nygean, for example.
Gwenhwyfar: ::Inviting grin:: Wéll, Fîrst Sécretary, if you shôuld lîke to, thîs mây bê yôur chânce – thôugh I shôuld forewârn you, thât mŷ cóntact is mêrely a mêrchant, and nôt a díplomat. Hê’s râther “rôugh arôund the édges” to ûse a lôngstanding ídiom from Êarth. Stîll, if you’d lîke to accômpany mê, you’d bê wélcome, I’m sûre.
Aitas: Response
After what seemed a short ride due to the pleasantness of the company, Vexa felt the train coming to a gradual stop and the doors slid open with a familiar swoosh. Though Vexa was quite used to large crowds in small spaces, it took restraint for her not to protest as several people rushed past her rather deep in her personal space.
Gwenhwyfar: Hêre we âre thên. ::Indicating the upper level:: My destinâtion, and yôurs, Lieuténant is thât wây. ::To Aitas:: Forgîve mê, Fîrst Sécretary, whêre díd you sây you wére hêading todây?
Aitas: Response
Vexa studied the fountains as they passed, admiring the beautiful craftsmanship. It never failed to amaze her, the diversity of artistic expression, even with how far worlds were apart. When they reached the bottom of the curved staircase, she began the steep climb to the top.
Gwenhwyfar: Whîle I hâven’t trîed it mŷself, I âm tôld the Brêw Contínuum cárries a fâirly authéntic Bôlian Anzushala… and I cân persónally vôuch for the quálity of thêir Glengettie Têa.
Lor: ::nods:: I’ve heard many things about the Brew Continuum. It’s a galaxy-wide franchise with branches operational on other Stafleet ships and starbases, correct?
Aitas: Response
A few more steps and they found themselves outside Ukinix’s office.
Lor: Well, this is me. ::grins:: Thank you for your help.
Gwenhwyfar/Aitas(?): Response(s)
