((Ops, Copernicus Center Level 1 - 0930 hours))

One of the things she had come to appreciate about Amity was how everyone always had suggestions and ideas. Not that other crews should served with hadn't been enthusiastic. But she felt that the Amity crew took it to a whole new level.

As a leader, it made her job easier to hear a variety of perspectives. She was only one woman, after all, and tended not to stray from her usual patterns. Sometimes, good solutions meant breaking those patterns.

Rosek-Skyfire: ::to Kaito:: I’d like you to work with the Security team to transfer any command authorizations or access credentials that we need to run Ops from Commander Hopper’s quarters for the duration. I’ll leave the details to your discretion. Keep myself, Lieutenant Vanlith, and the Engineering team in the loop also.

Moore: The other teams are already shoring up our weapons systems, making sure none of the torpedoes detonate due to ionization, but we don’t need them for command authorizations. It’s easy enough that I’ll handle it. What I will need, Commander, is a solid connection to the network backbone in Commander Hopper’s apartment.

Lael nodded. That would likely be up to engineering. They knew the ins and outs of the station's power conduits even better than she did. Granted, there were schematics. But schematics only went so far.

Vanlith: I’m sure I can mix a drink to make it up to her if we do.  But we need to get started quickly for us to have a chance to get ahead of this thing.

Saavei: ::to Lael:: Commander,  we could install temporary terminals and additional interfaces with minimal disruption to the First Officers home. Which project should we prioritize now?

Rosek-Skyfire: ::to Vanlith:: Do what you need to do. ::to Saavei:: Do what you can with the latter, But if it comes down to a matter of time, prioritize getting things done quickly. I'm sure that Commander Hopper will forgive us for a little bit of damage.

Saavei: Aye, Commander. ::a brief pause:: Also recommend storing of emergency rations, in the event the storm persists longer than expected and replicators cannot be utilized.

Moore: Once the last ship leaves, I will get the remaining security teams working on distributing the rations around the station. Including the Commander’s apartment.

That made sense. They wouldn't have the use of replicators because they would be too focused on using every ounce of power to keep the station afloat and likely sending extra power to shields to ensure that the storm didn't damage the station so much that it knocked it completely out of commission.

Though there were minimal personnel aboard, they still had lives to protect.

Vanlith: We need to secure long systems first for use straight after such as long distance comms and the remaining life support systems that we won’t need as we set up the new Ops and then we know what we have to work with and that we have preserved the needed systems.

Rosek-Skyfire: It might also be beneficial to limit access to unneeded areas, which would also limit the need for power in those sections. That extra power could then be used for calms and life support.

Saavei: One further idea, Commander... not without peril. We could use the deflector arrays to lower, or increase, our inertial mass. This would render the Outpost thrusters more maneuverable or assist in 'battening down the hatches', but doing so would quickly drain secondary power.

Rosek-Skyfire: ::nods:: It certainly doesn't hurt to have backup plans in case the storm affects us in a way we didn't anticipate. But given the potentially complicated nature of those kinds of maneuvers, they should definitely be held in reserve as a backup plan rather than plan a.

Moore: That would be useful, but you’re not wrong — an inertial mass-affecting field like that would quickly drain our backup capacitors… plus if we need to use it during the storm, that will weaken our shielding. ::Thinking for a moment:: But… the main reactors are buried deep inside of Amity. We could keep them running at a reduced power state, feeding the energy back to necessary systems, yet also monitoring for power surges.

Vanlith: ::Smiling to Kaito:: Exactly.

Saavei: Response

Moore: As mentioned, we could sacrifice other systems, sending surges into unimportant areas to discharge the electrical build-up. Yes, we’ll have repairs afterwards, but it will minimize major damage to systems we need to keep running.

Vanlith: I think I might have some ideas for that, channeling and venting the storms energy might be key to this process. I would like to take a lead on that area if possible. ::Typing away at a PADD simulation:: If we channel through the unneeded systems at a low level in one route and then back out at another knowing we will fry the final system but with a set up to push the energy off of Amity entirely we might be able to remain stable at a high shielding capacity.

Rosek-Skyfire: In small, controlled doses, perhaps. But we need to be wary of anything that could cause too many blown conduits. We don't want to overtax them or we could be putting out fires–quite literally–while we're trying to ride out this storm.

Saavei: Response

Moore: ::To Saavei:: Once we get the new command center set up, authorization codes transferred, I’ll work with you on getting the deflectors modified… ::Flashing a grin.:: They are a tactical system after all, and tactical systems are my specialty.

Vanlith: Commander, I can run simulations on my PADD whilst we set up the new command site and then we can do from there with modulations to the energy to the shields.

Rosek-Skyfire: ::nods:: We also should be careful of any particular areas of the station that have proven more sensitive in the past to surges of power. We might need to bypass particular conduits that wouldn't be able to handle the surge. If you could include those in your calculations, Lieutenant…

Moore: ::Pulling out the chip.:: Ready here. All authorization codes ready to transfer. We can start shutting down everything here.

Rosek-Skyfire: All right, everyone. Gather your gear and get whatever support personnel and equipment you need. Everyone meets in Commander Hopper's quarters.

It had been a hot minute since she’d broken out her engineering tools. She had the feeling that she was going to need them today.
