((Sickbay, USS Kepler, - en route to UAW territory – 25 MIN REMAINING))
Varati: Do you know what I was just thinking about? ::pauses:: I think we always overcomplicate things. Anyway, is urea actually a chaotropic agent? After all, we just need to break down the ordered hydrogen bonds. Perhaps we can finally eradicate the mutated pathogen on the other ships with a mix of chaotropes, SDS-PAGE and appropriately adapted ethanol, if we thereby break down proteins and the nuclide acids? … I mean, these methods are so old that we may have simply overlooked them, or never thought of combining them. In the end, it's all just nature?!

Wong: We’ve already committed to freezing the Enterprise. However, I can’t not see us using those principals here in sickbay, though. We will have to run decontamination procedures once we’re done here. And of course, there is treating our patients.
Just like the good doctor... he was right, given his position; they had to treat the patients first. The medication they found seemed to be working well, and no further emergencies had been reported.
But from the scientist's perspective, she couldn't just stop there. Especially not when there was such a potentially simple solution to such a serious problem.
Varati: That's right, the crew's health comes first. ::pause:: Buuuut the experiment could be implemented so quickly... I mean, it would certainly be worth a good scientific and medical publication, don't you think?
Wong: That’s weird….
Ikia was about to reply when he paused for a moment and then gave the helmet a little tap on the side. Were the comms disturbed? Or had she simply chattered too much again?
Varati: … everything okay? ::looks around::
Wong: My comms seem okay. I just hear—-
What was he doing? First he hit his helmet, and now he was looking at his hands respectively gloves... they certainly hadn't broken from that.
Varati: Yes, but what do you hear? Voices? I mean, other radio traffic?
Wong: Time’s up. They’re already here.
She didn't quite understand what he meant…
Varati: Wait, who is here...?
Until Ikaia held up one of his hands to show her... A smear of brown and sickly gold streaked across the palm of one of his hands.
Varati: Wait… What?! :: cursing:: !$#@!! So this is the macrovirus? I think I need to go to the toilet again... for other reasons...
But once again their conversation was abruptly interrupted; Bec requested a status report.
Iko: =/\= Iko to Wong. Report. =/\=
Varati: =/\= Varati to Bridge: We may have a problem… =/\=
Wong: =/\= Response =/\=
Iko: =/\= What? =/\=
Wong: =/\= Response =/\=
Yes, that was news that no one wanted to hear and couldn't use at all.
Varati: =/\= We may have a somewhat unusual solution… =/\=
Wong: =/\= Response? =/\=
Iko: =/\= Keep us posted, and do what you can. =/\=
Varati: =/\= If everyone who can could maybe go to the toilet briefly... with that, we could use the ammonia and phosgene supplies on board to produce highly concentrated urea, add ethanol or choline, and then hopefully have a hypospray that will literally thwart our "mosquito macrovirus." We just need the help of the healthy crew... Sorry… =/\=

Wong: =/\= Response =/\=
That wasn't how she'd imagined it... but now there was no time to act; Saavei and Juriton had taken the freezers, and they couldn't freeze everything on board, especially not critically ill patients. It wouldn't be an anecdote to be told at dinner, but the important thing was that it helped.
Varati: Now we're in a fine mess... I'll ask someone from engineering if they can transfer "the stuff" into a tank or beam it up for us. We just need to add the other components according to the chemistry textbook, like in a lab, and then fill the containers. Then we'll have a kind of mosquito repellent against our flying virus. oO hopefully… Oo
Varati: =/\= Tenille? (NPC): Could you please pipe some urea from the toilets into a canister or small tank for us? … Yes, I know, unusual. I only need a small amount to ‘prime’ the synthetic urea from the replicator... =/\= ::to Wong:: Don't look at me like that... that's not how I imagined it either. We can't just keep shooting the proteins everywhere with a phaser.
Tenille (NPC): =/\= What?! … I'll see what I can do... =/\=
Wong: Response
But then she remembered that it wasn't just the Kepler that was affected, but also the team on the Enterprise... who didn't even know what had happened yet.
Varati: We need to inform Saavei and Juriton! And beam them a load right away, even if the gel packs on the Enterprise are already too deteriorated to be frozen...
Varati: =/\= Saavei?! We'll send you a backup in case the gel packs can no longer be frozen... UrCho spray. Better not ask what's in it. =/\=
Wong: =/\= Response =/\=
