((Science Lab, USS Kitty Hawk))

Finsen’s eyes snapped open, her painful headache not able to stop the look of terror that washed over her face.  Of all the people she’d ever have a romantic interest in, the last person *in the galaxy* would be that horrible crewman Barberra.  Finsen hoped that Commander Ukinix did something about the written complaint she had submitted to him about her.

Finsen: ::Loud Shriek:: AAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! ::tapping combadge:: =/\= Medical emergency! =/\=

Ward: =/\= Ensign Ward here ::pausing:: I'm a medical officer. What's the location of the downed crewperson? I'll direct a medical team. =/\=

Finsen: =/\= I’m in the science lab!  I’m having a severe headache, and experienced a wicked, awful dream, but it was like I was there, and it was like it was the mostly *ghastly* nightmare come true - ::cutting herself and wincing in pain:: - anyway there’s potential temporal effects. =/\=

There was no response.  Finsen rolled on to her back, and rubbed her temples.  She couldn’t work out what was worse, the pain of the headache, or experiencing *that* reality.

That became a distant problem though as her headache got more painful and more intense again.  She groaned and scowled as she grabbed at her forehead.  She gritted her teeth as she fought her eyes that wanted to close.

Finsen: ::pleadingly:: No….

She was fighting a losing battle.  The more she tried to keep them open, the more intense the headache became.  She felt her eyes shut…

((Flashback(?) - Bridge, USS Aotearoa-C))

//Science Officers Log - Supplemental.

With the Captain having transported down to the planet’s surface after our successful first contact, my long-time friend and old roommate has taken the center chair!  Oh, I do love it when I see my friends in a position of command, it gives me such a warm feeling inside - oh yes, log entry.  Sorry, I’ve been told about my rambling in log entries before.  Captain Wundunda is right, I really, really, *really* do need to knuckle down and have a presence of mind when I record my logs… Oh no, I’ve done it again! Ohhhh… Where was I? Oh yes, Kivik is in the Captain’s chair, while the Aotearoa is in a geostationary orbit, allowing me to run detailed scans of the planet. //

Ensign Finsen tapped away at the LCARs screen in front of her, and furrowed her brow at what she was seeing, before she began to grin wildly.

Finsen: Well how genuinely, excitingly, and heart warmingly curious and fascinating, speaking from a scientific point of view of course.  I guess that makes sense, ::smail giggle:: I am a science officer!

Kivik: ::Over nir shoulder, hearing Finsen’s murmuring:: Ensign? It’s not like you to hold back – if you have something to share, please do.

Finsen swivelled in her chair to face her First Officer.

Finsen: Well, I have the most surprising readings, it’s truly extraordinary!  ::excited clap of hands:: Deep within the planet’s crust there’s a mmmm mmmm mmm-

She stopped when she felt her lips unable to open.  With a furrowed brow, she reached her hands up to her mouth.  Her lips began to tingle. Seconds later, that feeling turned into a burning sensation.

Kivik: ::Eyes forward, on the viewscreen:: I’m afraid I didn’t catch that. ::Turning to face Finsen:: What were you say–aaahh!!! Ensign! Your face!

FInsen: Mmmm mmmm mmm-mmm!  MMM!!!

She squinted her eyes shut as the burning pain became searing, before the sensation suddenly stopped.  She touched her lips again.  Her lips had *gone*.  There was just smooth skin in their place.  In a panic she breathed in and out through her nose, before trying to yell.

Kivik: Oh this is bad. This is very very bad. ::Tapping combadge:: =/\= First Officer to Sickbay. We have a medical emergency on the bridge. Tell Acting Chief Medical Officer Barberra to get up here immediately. =/\=

Finsen: HHHHMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!! HHHMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!

Kivik: ::Reassuring smile:: Don’t worry, Finsen. She’ll have you fixed up in no time!

Ward/Kivik: Response

Still on her back on the floor, Finsen’s eyes snapped open *wide* in shock as she took a breath in through her nose.  She reached up to her mouth, touching her lips with her fingers to make sure what she had just experienced wasn’t real.

Finsen: ::Concerned tone:: Ohh, I’ve just experienced two different dreams that were so *real*, it’s like I was actually there, and just before that sensors had detected tightly combined clusters of tachyons at the quantum level, emitting unknown subspace attributes, I mean I don’t want to conclude for certain that caused my strange – I don’t know what you call them – dreams?  But it seems far too coincidental, my headache is getting better though, have we moved away from the gravity well?  ::Looking at new person, cheery tone::  Oh, hello, I’m Ensign Finsen, Science Officer, well of course I am you can tell by my location and my uniform and my pips can’t you, what a silly thing for me to say, anyway ::smiling:: it’s lovely to meet you!

Ward: Response

Kivik: Response

Finsen: Well, first I saw we had encountered a gravity well, and then I was examining sensor readings about the tachyon clusters, and then I had a *splitting* headache, and then I had an ::shudders:: awful nightmare that felt like I was there, ::tongue out:: ergh, and then another headache, and then another nightmare, ugh it was eight layers of *awful*, and then I was looking up at both of you, which is where we are now.  Does that sum it up in a way that’s clear and concise and straight to the point, and not onerous-

She winced a little, the word “onerous” reminding her of the first vivid almost-living nightmare.  She’d never like hearing that word again.  Or seeing that awful crewman’s face.  oO Acting CMO?!  I’d quit Starfleet in a heartbeat. Oo

Finsen: Incidentally, I may be suffering from post-traumatic stress.

Ward/Kivik: Response
