((Transporter Room 1 - USS Kepler))

A culture that idolised Starfleet. And really idolised them. In a way one could only cringe at. Bec didn’t like it. She liked it even less than the red uniform she was wearing. Or the fact that because of the pathogen, they had to go in EV suits, and the EV suits on the Kelper were some newer design that happened to have division-coloured shoulders on them as well and the universe was making sure that while Bec had the red shoulders she was going to be unable to escape from them.

Despite all thisThe only thing they could do now was make sure the UAW had the right impression. Which, from a few stray databases, was something Bec doubted would really be the case. But that was the diplomats’ job. Bec was taking a team over to the “Enterprise” because (probably again thanks to only having a few stray databases) the UAW crew had gotten themselves in some trouble, with both the rise of this pathogen (that Wong was off dealing with) and the ship’s own systems. They were going to meet with the chief engineer, have a look around, try and fix some things, see where the UAW were at in terms of technical advancement and such, and also figure out whether there were any tactical threats from them at all.

But to do all of that, they needed the full team, and while she and Saavei waiting, Bec poked her head out to call out to Amity’s CSO with the nickname she almost exclusively referred to the 6’10” man with.

Iko: Shorty?

Taelon: My apologies, I - I was making sure…::He trailed off, and shook his head as if to clear it.:: Nevermind. I’m ready to go, Commander.

Bec nodded, and looked between herself, Taelon and Saavei.

Saavei: Response

Taelon ran a hand through his hair which reminded Bec of times when she would do the same. But normally, she reserved it for after things had all gone so horribly wrong that you couldn’t help but be aware of all the ways it had gone horribly wrong and there was nothing else to do.

Taelon: We’ll be meeting their representative on the other side, then?

Iko: Yes. Their chief engineer. Ko'Lforta I think Robin said that the captain had said their name was.

Saavei: Response

Shorty was looking at the transporters like they were still infected with the thing that made people into Borgs (Honestly, fair.) Bec held out the EVS suit they’d found that would fit the tall science officer, silently offering it to him.

Taelon: Any…last minute things to note, Commander? Before we’re in mixed company…?

Iko: Just because they’re trying to emulate the Federation doesn’t mean they might not be a threat. We’re helping them but we’re also there to see whether they could or would hurt us.

Taelon/Saavei: Response

Bec stepped onto one of the Kelper’s transporter pads. She looked at the others to do the same.

Taelon/Saavei: Response

The acting FO gave a nod to the Kelper’s transporter chief.

Iko: Energise.

((Main Engineering, UAW Enterprise – en route to United Alliance of Worlds Territory))

The place was a mess. Not that you could really expect anything else from a ship that’s falling apart, but between consoles that didn’t want to work, a warp core that reminded Bec more out of one of those kids play toy spaceships just made lifesize and the result of what she assumed were attempts at repairs, things were not looking great.

Plus there was going to be everything that the Engineer was about to show them too.

Ko'Lforta: Response

Bec gave them a nod in greeting.

Iko: My name is Commander Iko. ::gesturing to both:: This is Ensign Saavei, Engineering, and Commander Taelon, Science.

She was not going to mention Amity at this time.

She also tried not to think about how she had introduced herself as “Commander Iko” and not mentioned anything about “call me Bec”. Perhaps it was part of the whole First Officer thing. Perhaps it was trying to stick more to protocol so that they seemed more trustworthy to the UAW. Like I said, she tried not to think about it.

Saavei/Taelon/Ko’Lforta: Response

Iko: We’re here to assist with repairs however we can. Where would you like us to start?

Saavei/Taelon/Ko’Lforta: Response
