((Flashback – Landing Zone, Talaxian Colony Paxala, Idrustix - Morning, The Last Day))
Barberra: Yes, I’m all packed.
She was standing on the shiny brand-new landing pad, watching the faint outline of a Starfleet shuttle high in the atmosphere streak across the sky, on its way to pick Annamae up and take her back to Amity.
Marvoxx: Are you sure? I mean, we wouldn’t want you to leave anything behind.
Barberra: Marvoxx. I’ve triple checked after you sent me back to my temporary residence *twice*. Everything is packed, okay?
The Talaxian nodded, with a smile and a nod...
Marvoxx: Yes, yes, of course.
He looked down.
Marvoxx: It’s just that, we’re going to miss you. I’m* going* to miss you. ::Looking around at half built colony:: Look at what you helped us build!
Annamae did just that, looking at the colony that they were on the edge of. There was still a lot to be done. But it was looking like a colony. A town. A *Talaxian* town (with little hints of Federation and Betazoid influence). An eency, weeny, tiny little smile formed on her face. She’d helped with a lot of the hidden infrastructure.
That made her proud.
Marvoxx: We’re so thankful. Your Amabassdor... Niarivi Vataix, right?
Barberra: But you can call her Rivi.
Marvoxx: “Rivi”. ::smiles:: Okay. Please thank her for all the Federation has done.
Barberra: I will-
Marvoxx: And thank you, Annamae.
Barberra: You already said that.
Marvoxx: I know, I know, but...
The shorter Talaxian man, a senior project manager of the build of the colony, wrapped his arms around Annamae in a hug. She briefly rolled her eyes... but then felt something. Gratitude for his gratitude. She smiled just a little, and put her arms back around him.
Lightly. Can’t be *too* affectionate.
Barberra: I’m only going to be at Amity. It’s not far away. I’ll come back to visit, I promise. And bring my girlfriend with me.
((End Flashback))
((Medical Center, Amity Outpost))
It was just at that moment that an alert informed the doctor that there was a medical emergency that had just arrived in the medical center.
Annamae simply glanced at Jansen, just as Emilia (in non-Tuvix form) fizzled into existence at the corner of the room.
Orrey: ::nodding to the soon to be parents:: Just remember your breathing exercises and lets see what this is.
Barberra: Excuse us, just a moment.
Annamae made her way with Jansen over to the hologram in the corner of the room, who spoke quietly.
Emilia: ::Quietly:: Two Starfleet Officers have just been beamed in, in critical condition. They were in the Magnolia and were attacked by a Trenvonn drones. There’s hundreds of them out there.
Barberra: Trenvonn?
Orrey: Fascinating.
Emilia: Not to mention the Kathesis Pact all lined up at the edge of our space.
Barberra: ::nervous look to Jansen:: Holy...
Orrey: ::speaking to Annamae with a nod toward Emilia:: A benefit of medicine is that we need eyes and ears everywhere, just in case.
Emilia: ::To Jansen:: Doctor, they’re not in good shape.
Annamae glanced at the pregnant woman and her partner, who were both watching on, wondering what the hell the trio were talking about, and clearly nervous as hell. She then glanced back at Jansen, her expression remaining stoic, but her brown eyes showing concern. She wondered what the CMO would decide to do.
Orrey: ::nodding his head:: I will be by shortly.
Emilia shimmered away, leaving Annamae wondering what the hell was going to happen... but then a realisation hit her. oO Wait-- Oo
Orrey: Well, as you can tell I have been called away but I have full faith in Annamae here. Our own personal M’Benga.
S.Ortho: She can do it?
Her eyes opened a little wider. Both in shock, and delight. oO Oh, yeah. Oo
Orrey: She has my full faith and trust. ::He turned toward Barberra with a serious nod:: And you can do it can’t you.
Barberra: Does a mugato like to watch?
After a nod of confidence from Jansen, she watched him leave. Then turned to the soon-to-be parents who looked a little more alarmed than before.
Orrey: =/\= Alright Annamae. The sensor cluster overhead is vital to the whole operation it has to stay in position so move to the side opposite the incubator there needs to be a direct open line between the two objects. Reach up and press
the button on the handle it will show you a guide cross. Ready for your first medical secret? =/\=
Annamae waggled her finger around a little at the device to orient herself with he controls, then followed Jansen’s instructions and pressed the button. Sure enough, the cross showed up.
Barberra: =/\= Aye, sir? =/\=
Orrey: =/\= On obstetric gowns there is a hidden cross in the pattern to line that guide up with for students. Line the mark up with the gown while Missus Ortho is laying back not in an active contraction. =/\=
Annamae looked down to line up the cross. After a satisfied nod, she gave the pregnant woman a reassuring tap on her arm. And a little smile-- the same one she had given Marvoxx plenty of times in Paxala-- while answering Jansen, in her
much more matured yet still unfiltered way.
Barberra: =/\= That’s like, cheating. =/\=
Orrey: =/\= Response =/\=
Barberra: =/\= Okay. =/\=
Orrey: =/\= Response =/\=
Barberra: =/\= Gross I love it, but okay. =/\=
She noticed the two parents nervously glaring at her, with slight disapproval.
Orrey: =/\= Response =/\=
Barberra: =/\= Wait, which console now? =/\=
S. Ortho: =/\= Doctor Jansen, ::puffing:: I think I’d feel more comfortable ::puffing:: if you came back.. Aaaarrrrggggh! =/\=
Barberra: =/\= ::Deadpan:: Sir, another contraction and a customer complaint. What’s the procedure for both? =/\=
Orrey: =/\= Response. =/\=
