((Brand spanking new awesome and shiny with new furniture and fittings smell CO’s Office, Level 3, Copernicus Center, Amity Outpost))
With the shift of the embassy to Idrustix, and Wil now assuming the CO role of the Starfleet contingent on Amity, it did mean a few changes to Copernicus.
One of them was the new, larger office installed on the “East” side of level 3 of Copernicus Center. Wil’s old XO’s office (now Robin’s office) had been designed into the Level 3 floor plan long before it was known that Wil would be First Officer.
But the latest refurbishment meant that Ops/Engineering had consulted with Wil on the design. And with Wil, it was always the little things he liked.
Like a bigger replicator.
And the slightly curved wooden desk, built into the floor, that let him slide around to different consoles on each side like he was a helm officer. The desk had a feature like those ones in the embassy on Idrustix, where with the touch of a built-in screen he could make the desk glow different colours, at different brightness levels.
The office also had a seating area around a small coffee table at one end of the room, with 5 very comfortable chairs, that looked like a fancy upmarket lounge. It even had its own lighting, and its own replicator built into the low coffee table.
One end of the wall had (of course) the Starfleet delta emblazoned into it, but only slightly off colour to the dark purple feature wall so that it fit into the overall décor of the office.
But the masterpiece, the *best* part of the office, was at the other end wall-- a set of four white Australian Rules football goalposts, with an absorption net behind it.
From the bucket of red footies with the printed black silhouette of a kangaroo on it, Wil picked one up, and lined up his first kick ever for those goals, as a pleased smile crossed his face. That wall was not only another feature wall - it was also a functional one. A *therapeutic* one.
Ukinix: This kick for the win. The siren’s gone. From ten metres out. Directly in front…Ukinix kicks…
And just as he did step forward and drop the red football onto his foot, the door chimed-- which made him shank the kick off the side of his shoe, and into the wall…
The one adjacent to goals.
It made a *thud* sound as it hit, before bouncing back toward Wil.
Ukinix: ::under his breath:: And he’s kicked it out on the full. No score.
He quickly fetched the football, dropped it back into the bucket, then lifted its handles to put it back next to the goal-wall as he instructed the computer to slide open the office door, to let whoever it was to--
Ukinix: Come in!
A blonde Betazoid woman in a blue Starfleet uniform, smiling broadly, entered the room.
Nevark: Commander Ukinix. It is an honour Sir.
Ukinix: Oh, hello. ::Smiles:: It’s a pleasure to see too you, mate.
“Mate”. The universal Australian word (in this context) for, “you look like a nice person but I either don’t know who you are, or don’t remember who you are”.
Apparently the Betazoid detected that though-- she frowned. I mean, of course she detected it, she was a Betazoid.
Nevark: Lieutenant Layla Nevark, the new counsellor, reporting for duty. You were expecting me right?
Ukinix: Oh! ::pacing over to desk, picking up PADD:: Yeah, yeah, that’s right! I’m so sorry, things have been manic lately with all the changes. New counsellor hey, welcome to Amity ::Holding out hand::. I’m Commander Ukinix. Wil. “Commander” is good, you don’t have to call me “Sir”.
oO Or “Skipper”. Oo
Nevark: Response
Wil gestured to his fancy new seating area, keeping the PADD in his hands that had Nevark’s file on it.
Ukinix: I’m excited, you’re my first guest to this office. What do you think?
He looked towards the floor to ceiling windows, that overlooked Section Beta (and a little bit of Section Gamma) of the shuttlebay.
Nevark: Response
Ukinix: How was your six-week trip out here? ::gesturing to coffee-table-replicator:: Drink? Snack?
Nevark: Response
He took a seat on one of the chairs, and gestured for Lieutenant Nevark to choose one of the other four chairs.
Ukinix: Well, we can always do with counsellors. Starfleet has a big footprint, and we support FDC staff as well. Although, there’s a few less of them around now. ::Single pat of hands on thighs:: Anyway, tell me about you.
Nevark: Response
