((Warehouse somewhere in Oparis, Uwe II))

((OOC: All cut tags can be found in Varati’s last sim Green or Green? and Stros’s sim 50% Irritation = Grumpy))

Stros: Ensign, you are aware that using Verdigris on human skin can cause rather troublesome irritation, yes? ::Looking towards Wil:: I am unsure of the effects on Betazoid skin. Perhaps a 50/50 match to our 50/50 Commander. ::Thoughtfully:: What is half of irritated? Grumpy? ::Looking to Kaito:: Would he be sufficiently grumpy for the trash can then?

D’Cyra looked at Commander Stros in disbelief. As if she were simply smearing the acid on Wil's skin... The oxide was mixed with the cream and diluted; a thin layer of powder or skin cream would serve as a base anyway, a kind of primer.

Ukinix: Response

Moore: Surely there has to be someone who can help us. What if we try to make contact with that Elarrapal person again? Maybe she has a range of contacts we can use to gather information on any strange happenings – or maybe sightings of the team?

Elarrapal could and would certainly help if it came to getting one over on Norsel. And they had helped her, so it was time for a return favour “koledru venari”.

Varati: Elarrapal will surely help us! She has met us and knows that we are not working against her. And she’ll know what game Norsel is playing and where we can find him.

Stros: That leaves the difficulty of finding Elarrapal. Or finding a way to communicate with her in the very least.

Ukinix: Response

By now, a sizable pile of verdigris had accumulated on the cloth. Mixed with the oily skin cream, the mixture would be enough for the head and hands. Green and spotty—a (nearly) perfect Uwezo.

Varati: ::to Ukinix:: Now please sit still and close your eyes! The mask is supposed to look somewhat real. Well, at least from a distance, until it darkens. ::pause:: I’m ready when you are.

To be on the safe side, she took some of the paste and rubbed a dab of it on the back of her hand. Yes, the result was impressive and exactly as she'd hoped: a light green with oily speckles.

Stros took an impatient step forward, somehow feeling a bit uneasy about the situation.

Stros: I must reiterate the possibility of severe discomfort and skin irritation with the Verdigris pigment, Commander. I would advise against this course of action.

Ukinix/Moore: Response

But before she could try her hand at being a make-up artist, one of the tricorders beeped.

Varati: Hmpff! What’s this now? I thought the Indy was out of reach?

Curiosity got the better of her and D’Cyra pulled her tricorder out of her pocket to investigate.

Stros: The Independence is indeed out of reach. We are not receiving communication. It was a tricorder.

Ukinix/Moore: Response

But her and Stro’s tricorders hadn't received a signal. She still recognized the notification tone, but couldn't identify it.

Varati: Well, I didn’t receive anything… But one of our devices responded to a signal. Hopefully not a trap?! But we definitely need to finish the disguise first. We can still take the box with us as camouflage…

Stros looked towards Commander Ukinix with a raised eyebrow.

Stros: My tricorder shows no notifications.

Moore/Ukinix: Response

Stros: I must mention the fact that the longer we stand within this warehouse and debate the use of camouflage, the harder it may become to find Commander Hopper and her team.

Stros was right in principle, time was of the essence, but with one person in a box, their mobility as a team was limited, and in an emergency, they would have been immediately exposed. And an incapacitated commander was of no use to anyone.             oO You're not responsible for everything, you're not responsible for everything... Oo

Varati: I'm not using the acid, just the diluted oxide. And underneath, of course, I'll apply some kind of primer made of wound powder or a thin layer of skin cream... something like that should be included in our neutral first aid kits. I don't want to create a monster. If the risk seems too great, then we don't do it. But yes, we have to decide now.

The paste shouldn't be a problem on protected skin... but was it worth taking the risk? What if Wil had some kind of allergy or intolerance? Questions, questions, questions.

Varati: We can also simply fill the paste into a little jar and take it with us... we have it and can use it, if necessary?!

Ukinix/Moore: Response

Stros: ::To Wil:: I suggest you make a decision Commander. Keep in mind my advice.

She gathered all her things, stuffed them into her bag, and looked around again to see if there was anything useful.

Varati: Maybe we can at least find some more suitable clothing here...?

Ukinix/Moore: Response

Stros: Very well, Commander. Let us proceed.

A decision had been made, and that was now the most important thing. Everything else would be decided en route or on the spot.

Varati: How far is it from here back to the west Imeris branch settlement where first met Elarrapal? Surely the most likely scenario is to meet her there or someone from her group of activists?

Ukinix/Moore: Response

No proper signal and no information about the others' whereabouts... D’Cyra preferred not to imagine what could have happened. The thought of those things made her stomach clench again.

Varati: Surely someone can tell us where Elarrapal or this Norsel usually stay? Or if there have been any other unusual events...

Moore/Stros/Ukinix: Response

Just to be on the safe side, she pulled her tricorder out of her pocket again. What could be interfering with the signal reception?

Varati: Surely these oversized sequoia trees can't interfere with our devices so massively? We would have noticed that before, wouldn't we? ::pause, incredulous snort:: Or maybe it's just this building? Perhaps we should cautiously approach the door and assess the situation?

Moore/Stros/Ukinix: Response

D’Cyra carefully put on her tunic and headed toward the door leading outside. She paused and checked the tricorder for any nearby life signs (other than their own).

Varati: Ok, fine. No one else here except us. I'll just take a quick look around to see if I can get a signal outside and then I'll be right back.

D’Cyra carefully opened the sliding door, which gave way with a slight creak. She waited to see if anything happened and cautiously leaned out of the gap. Since everything remained quiet, she tiptoed through the gap and out. Fresh, warm evening air drifted in.

Moore/Stros/Ukinix: Response
