((Outside Warp Development Facility – Uwe II))

Wong: In speaking with Elarrapal, she did bring up some alarming things. One of the things that caught my attention was the Uropal tree she brought up. It seems like it was something sacred that may have been located near a mining operation that was connected to the warp project. I certainly would like to get a look into that.

Galanis: You think that’s where she might have wound up?

Saavei/Hopper: Response

Wong: Her concerns were predominately environmental. As for Norsel, I haven’t met them directly yet. Just their protesters. So it’s harder to ascertain a motive for them.

Hand raising thoughtfully to their chin, Niev’s brow furrowed. Environmentalists were involved in all of this? Another pang of regret over Greeta’s kidnapping flashed through them as they realized the chance to ask him just where they were getting the fuel for their warp engines had slipped away along with the mysterious kidnappers. But they did know Ikaia wasn’t one to entertain things like bombing innocents for a goal. That had to say something about at least Elarrapal.

Galanis: If their ideologies clash, it’s not too hard to assume one of them is more likely to be very literally planting bombs than the other.

Saavei/Hopper: Response

Wong: So catch me up to speed here - what can you tell me about Greeta?

Galanis: I don’t think we had time to learn nearly enough, aside that it seems clear he’s innocent, though he seemed to make Lieutenant Commander Hopper nervous. Was there something about Project Lead Greeta that stood out to you, Commander?

Saavei/Hopper: Response

Galanis: The most pressing thing we know is that we need to find him. It may be our fault he was where he was when the explosion happened. ::looking toward Robin:: If our cover story is about to crumble regardless, pressing our luck is always an option. We could take what Doctor Wong knows and reference it with some of the access to records we have. It might give us a warmer lead.

Hopper/Wong/Saavei: Response

Galanis: It could be as simple as finding a contact directory, if these aren’t aliases. Like looking up someone to contact them in the Federation. Is there any reason to think she might not have been using her real name?

Hopper/Wong/Saavei: Response

While it had to be carefully hidden away while they were inside the facility, never let it be said that a Starfleet scientist left home without a PADD. Niev slipped one out from under their padded tunic now that they were far enough from the entrance to be relatively hidden, getting their first good look at data on a screen larger than their tricorder all day.

Galanis: Well, I can’t yet say anything about this ‘Elarrapal’. But Norsel certainly seems popular with some of the security reports around here. We may be able to narrow it down by cross-referencing them with areas around this Uropal tree and Imeris.

Hopper/Wong/Saavei: Response

After a few swift taps of the screen as the others spoke, Niev spun the PADD around in their palms, presenting the screen subtly to the others. There was a map of the local area - the facility and major settlements nearby. The Warp Development Facility was clearly labeled, a soft blue pin indicating the group’s position. Contrasting were little red dots scattered throughout, each tagged with a Stardate.

Galanis: Look here - I’ve marked down reports of protest activity, particularly those involving Norsel. Some of the locations are approximate, but there’s a clear pattern to the concentrations.

Niev paused for a moment, their gaze moving between each of their companion’s faces, wondering what each would make of what they were seeing.

Hopper/Wong/Saavei: Response

Galanis: I suggest we head to the Oparis Branch. It’s quieter, slightly out of the way, but still fairly central to where many of their… incidents have been reported.

Hopper/Wong/Saavei: Response

Galanis: It may be an entire settlement, but it’s a start… and as Commander Hopper pointed out, we can’t stay here for much longer without raising suspicion. Better to take our chances by asking around the local population.

Hopper/Wong/Saavei: Response
