((Shuttlebay, Section Alpha, Amity Outpost))
Having spent a good majority of the day making sure that things were settled in preparation for Stros’ departure, he finally found time to meander down to the shuttlebay to join the rest of the crew in their little awards ceremony. Having only been a member of Amity’s crew for a short time, he was fairly certain he wouldn’t be receiving any sort of awards, but felt that it might be a bit of fun.
The doors slid open to reveal the crew gathered around a sort of stage with Commanders Ukinix and Hopper presenting awards to several Amity residents.
Ukinix: Thanks Ikaia, you can return to your seat, but Ensign Varati you need to stay up here. Lieutenant Moore, Commander Stros, can you come and join us?
Hadn’t even had a drink yet and Stros was already being called to the front of the class by the principal.
Varati: ::uncertain:: Aye?
Making his way to the stage, Stros took a position just off to the side of the Commanders and the Ensign.
Stros: I do hope this is not going to turn into singing and dancing. I certainly haven’t had enough to eat or drink, sir.
Moore: Response
Ukinix: For the undercover tracking down operation of Uwe II of Robin’s away team, Commander Stros, Lieutenant Moore, Ensign Varati, and myself are awarded the Intelligence Star. ::To Lael, Aitas, Layla, and Bec:: If you four could pin the ribbons?
Ribbons were pinned to collars, and congratulations were handed out in kind.
Rosek-Skyfire/Nevark: Response
Ukinix: Thanks mate.
Iko: There ya go.
Lieutenant Iko patted Lieutenant Moore on the shoulder.
Iko: Good job on keeping them out of trouble.
Varati: Thanks… thanks a lot! ::pause:: We are one team: one for all and all for one!
Stros looked around with a raised eyebrow, it appeared the ‘three musketeers’ had added members to their ranks.
Stros: Rather unexpected. Thank you.
Moore: Response
Ukinix: Alrighty, we’re on a roll now, I think we all know the drill! And as such, as Robin hands the boxes to those still remaining up here, and me, can we have Lieutenant Wong, Lieutenant Galanis, Ensign Saavei, come up?
Taking the small box in hand as Commander Hopper handed them each out, Stros stood at attention and waited.
Hopper: ::Passing out box after box:: For you – for you – for you…
Ukinix: For uncovering Norsel’s plot, the three of you, plus Commander Hopper, are awarded the Starfleet Investigation Ribbon. Congratulations! ::gesturing to Niev:: Lieutenant, if I may?
Varati: Fantastic performance! Without you efforts, we would never have brought Norsel down! ::attaches one of the ribbons to Saavei::
Opening the box and removing the ribbon, Stros turned it over in his hand. Such a small and intricate trinket. He stepped forward and presented the pin to Lieutenant Wong. Having little to no interaction with the Klingon, Stros simply offered him a slight bow of the head.
Stros: Congratulations, Lieutenant.
Moore: Response
Ukinix: Well deserved, Lieutenant, congratulations. ::offering hand::
Galanis: Response
Stros looked along the line of presenters, and noticed Commander Hopper giving herself her own ribbon. He tilted his head slightly and raised an eyebrow. Did that count as a patting oneself on the back?
Saavei: Thank you, sir.
Wong: Response
Hopper: ::Pinning it to her own jacket, under her breath, amused:: Of course, the one maneuver I didn’t practice…
His head tilting slightly more and his brow furrowing, Stros struggled to understand just what the Commander meant by that.
Ukinix: Okay, now we’re back down to three, so Niev, Ikaia, and Saavei, you know what to do for the next three people– Stros, Moore and Varati, you didn’t think you get to keep your seats, did you?
Varati: ::satirical:: It’s still early evening and I had nothing else planned… ::chuckles::
Stros looked around them, an eyebrow slowly raising.
Stros: I do not believe I have taken a seat since I arrived, Commander.
Moore: Response
Boxes were suddenly flying through the air as Commander Hopper tossed them towards the now presenting crew members.
Hopper: Think fast!
Wong/Galanis: Response
Ukinix: For intercepting & apprehending the stolen Hovan stealth ships without casualties in a very tricky situation, Commander Stros, Lieutenant Moore, and Ensign Varati, you are all awarded the legion of Merit. Congrats!
Stros wasn’t sure that he had necessarily earned any of the ribbons that he was being presented. But he was going to accept them appreciatively either way.
Saavei: Well done, D’Cyra ::as she pinned the ribbon for her friend::
Varati: Thanks… what should I say? Thanks.
Watching the ribbon get pinned to his uniform, Stros tilted his head once more.
Stros: Thank you.
Wong/Moore: Response
The table that was once full of ribbons had quickly dwindled down to just two. Stros moved off of the stage and stood towards the back of the pack as the Commanders continued to speak.
Hopper: Additionally – Everyone who took part in our mission in the Hovanic system has been awarded both the First Contact Ribbon and the Explorer’s ribbon, for being among the first Federation citizens to visit the Hovans and Uwezo… ::wink:: and for not totally screwing it up.
Definitely an achievement for the Amity crew from what Stros understood.
Hopper: You’ll find those in boxes under your seats! ::Grinning:: Congrats, everyone.
Perhaps there was a seat with Stros’ name on it somewhere within the crowd that had his own ribbon taped to the bottom of it.
Ukinix: Alright, that’s it for ribbons. Congratulations to everyone, and thanks to everyone that handed out a ribbon, which is everyone that received a ribbon!
And there was the end of the celebration. The two boxes that remained on the table must have been extras or something that did not seem to pertain to anything that was happening currently. As applause rolled through the crew, a small ding came from Stros’ PADD in his pocket. He pulled the device out and read over the notification. It seemed that he had his first stop on his return to the Alpha Quadrant set up without a hitch. It was going to prove to be an interesting trip.
As he continued to read through his ‘itinerary’, The promotions and congratulations continued in the background. He half listened to the groups chatting, his main focus being on the information he held before him. That was, until he heard his name.
Ukinix: Also, can we have Lael Rosek-Skyfire, Stros, and Bec Iko join us?
Slipping his PADD back into his pocket, Stros returned to his place on the stage that he had been standing in before.
Iko: Yeah Wil?
Rosek-Skyfire: Response
Stros kept quiet. He knew what this last spotlight was concerning.
Ukinix: Firstly, some sad news – Commander Stros is leaving us, and is transferring to the USS Khitomer. ::To Stros:: Mate, you weren’t with us for long, but we’ve valued your experience since joining us from Whispering Wall, and you’ve been a lot of fun to have around.
With a slight bow of the head, Stros accepted the brief praise from the Commander.
Ukinix: We’re going to miss you, and wish you all the best in your next posting–maybe this time, don’t hide from us if we contact you via comms, yeah?
Stros: ::With a slight smirk:: Only if I am screening my calls.
In truth, Stros would more than welcome any communications from the crew of Amity at any time. In his short stint aboard the outpost, he had grown to enjoy each and every one of them in their own way. Well, the ones he had time to meet, anyways.
Ukinix: Which means that Commander Rosek-Skyfire is now your new Chief of Operations, taking over Stros’ role. Commander Rosek-Skyfire’s had a lot of experience, and we’re lucky to have you not only with Amity, but to be able to slot into this role. ::Offering hand:: Congratulations, Lael.
Rosek-Skyfire: Response
Another member of the crew that Stros had little to no interaction with. But, given the Commander’s experience, Stros had no doubts that she would be a good fit for the role.
Varati: congratulations and all the best! Welcome to the team!
Hopper: You’ll do a bang-up job, I’m sure.
Any: Response
Stros placed his hands behind his back as Commander Ukinix continued to speak to the crew.
Ukinix: Which also means we need a new second officer. Commander Iko, we think your future in Starfleet is bright, and we’d love you to learn all about command in Starfleet, which is we’re offering you the role of Second Officer of amity Outpost. ::offering hand:: Congratulations mate.
Iko: ::quietly:: What?
A laugh escaped Commander Hopper as Commander Iko seemed surprised by the offer.
Varati: Congratulations and all the best in your new position!
Any: Response
Hopper: Looking forward to working more closely, Bec… But with you and Wil together in meetings, I might need to get myself an interpreter though. ::Smirk:: I’ll start knocking on doors in Xenolinguistics.
Having two Australian accents in the same room could certainly lead to some confusion. But Stros found the accent somewhat soothing.
Ukinix: Well that’s it for ribbons, and promotions, and role changes, and to celebrate, the FDC has graciously put on a smorgasbord lunch for all of us. Who said shuttlebays weren’t versatile, ‘ey? Oh and Commander Rosek-Skyfire, ::playfully:: I made sure there was extra food for the twins.
Rosek-Skyfire: Response
Varati: Oh yes, a few cool drinks and some delicacies are just what we need right now! Here’s to a successful past year and a wonderful future together! Cheers to everyone!
Drinks were passed around, and food was piled onto plates as the presentations ended and the festivities really began.
Varati: Hip hip hooray!
Aitas: Response
Commander Iko approached Stros with an outstretched hand.
Iko: ::offering hand:: Hey, Good luck out there.
Looking between the young woman’s face and her hand, Stros smiled and took her hand.
Stros: Thank you, Commander.
He looked around at the crew as they ate, drank, and were merry. He was going to miss it. But it was for the best. He had left a mark on the Delta Quadrant that he wasn’t sure would really be a good thing for him to stick around with. Going back to the Alpha Quadrant could be the first step in fixing the problems that he had made. He looked back towards Commander Iko, smile still on his face.
Stros: And good luck with this bunch.
