Lt Alex Storm - Let's See What We're Working With

Introductions and background information took longer than Alex had planned, but with the pleasantries behind them, the Tactical Officer was able to focus in on the first step toward making sure that the Ensign was ready for the usual circumstances that the Artemis tended to throw her crew into.

Storm:  Good, now let me see how you’d stand if you planned to fire the phaser.

Like an echo reverberating down a canyon, Breys returned to the stance she had just vacated as she looked over the settings on the phaser.

Breys: I think this is the main stance they taught during my senior year?

Storm: If an enemy was running at you, what adjustments would you make?

The Ensign adjusted her feet a little wider.

Breys: Is this any better?

Storm: A bit, yes.  

Alex walked around Breys, checking her stance, and adjusted D’Tin’s shoulders slightly.  

Storm:  You’ll have better control if you're not wearing your shoulders as earrings.  I know being here can work anyone up, but try to relax them.

Alex's face scrunched up on one side as she watched.

Storm:  A little more.

Once the Ensign’s shoulder fell into place, her face relaxed, and she gave a nod.

Storm:  That’s better.

Breys: ::more upbeat:: What’s next then?

Storm:  Now bend your knees just a little.  If I were to throw a knife at you,

oO Not that I would, Sil, at least not since you banned carrying them. Oo even if you had a phaser, believe it or not, I’d likely win if I caught you off guard.  If your knees are always bent, you can react more quickly, and you’d have a better shot at dodging it.

Breys: Response

Storm:  There -- see!  Now that looks better! 

Breys:  Response

Storm:  Let’s see what we’re working with.  Fortunately for you, these targets don’t shoot back, at least not yet.  Three shots at the bulls-eye downrange.  When you’re ready.
