(( Central Security - Afalqi Project Launch Control, Meranuge IV ))

Jetripar: That is… odd. ::pause:: Does that mean… Well, I’m not sure what it means. It’s a mismatch, but it was permitted. Why?

K’Wara: If I may? ::enters commands:: Hmm... It looks like the mismatch was allowed with the usage of administrator-level access codes. Who has those for this system?

Jetripar: Myself. ::sneers:: Havun. Our lead scientist, Vanzir. But she has been out for the last several weeks due to the birth of her child. She was due to return three days from now, actually.

K’Wara: Well, if the mismatch occurred after the Afalqi’s theft, that means it can’t have been him doing it, though he might have shared his codes with someone. That being said- ::looks over the data:: If this ‘Alvaine’ entered prior to the Afalqi’s theft, and someone else left as ‘them’ after the theft. Where are both of them now?

Jetripar: ::muttering:: Alvaine. Alvaine. Alvaine. ::normal volume:: Alvaine is one of our low level scientists. She was in one of the tiers that was sent home. I wouldn't even have noticed she was missing...

Jetripar was pacing now. A bead of sweat was visible on his forehead.

K’Wara: The system says that all are ‘accounted for’, meaning all entries barring the already identified engineering team have a corresponding exit. We know that to be false. Someone left as Alvaine who didn’t enter as themselves. ::looks around:: Is there any way inside this facility that bypasses the biometric checkpoints? Any way at all?

He was about to respond in the negative. The security was as tight as it possibly could be. Even the ventilation ducts were monitored, and the same alloy that prevented scanning of the bay from the outside scattered transporter beams. But then a thought occurred to him, and spoke after a pause.

Jetripar: The only thing I could think of would be the retractable ceiling. But that's impossible. There is no way to open it from the outside. It's also not exactly conducive to a surreptitious entry.

K'Wara: Response

He shook his head. That just didn't seem possible.

Jetripar: I assure you, Lieutenant Commander. It's an impossibility. ::turning to the guard:: You. Could anyone come in through the retractible ceiling in the bay?

The guard, who had been nervously fidgeting, uncertain of what to do, snapped to attention.

Security Guard: No, sir. It's an impossibility.

Jetripar nodded. That was a good guard. He would make a point to inform his superior to give him a good performance review.

K'Wara: Response

The Starfleet officer was beginning to get on Jetripar's nerves. He didn't like being told things he knew to be true were not true. Perhaps their captain would see reason.

Jetripar: I believe we've accomplished all we can here.

He retrieved a data cylinder from the security computer, and handed it to K'Wara.

Jetripar: Here is a copy of what we have just reviewed for you to peruse at your leisure. I believe it is time to rejoin the rest of your crew. I would love to hear an update from them.

K'Wara: Response
