((Kerrit Dromos - City One - Rylor))

After Roy had managed to get himself free of the purple creature that had slowed him down, Ava kept her pace and as she approached the area where the creature was causing more chaos among the Artemis crew members, namely several young fresh-faced officers. Clearly they had no experience in cute-fluffy animal wrangling.

She kept going on, the crowd's cheers encouraged her. Of course, they could have just as easily been for Roy, but in competition you took what you got and in this instance she was left feeling buoyed by the turnout, the cries of joy and the happy faces from the crew. They needed this.

Ava also took the opportunity to review her ongoing strategy. She was beginning to feel the aggressive start and subsequent strong pace in her legs, particularly the one that Jira had warned her about. She moved the weight to her other leg and began to slow her pace down. She knew that Roy could still catch her up, and took the opportunity to look backwards and that's when she saw what the crowd began to react to. Roy’s lace had come undone and flapped around at his feet.

She knew the internal struggle that was going on. Should he stop, correct and move on. He’d lose the momentum, and almost certainly the race unless Ava found herself in trouble. But trouble seemed reserved for the doctor on this day.

Then moments later as she turned another bend, she saw him falter from her peripheral vision. The lace had got him. Now the distance between them only grew. This may be the easiest win in all her track racing days.

At the Academy, she had ran against all types of foes. Bajorans, Ferengi, Caitians, Vulcans, Andorians, Tellarites, even a Xindi Insectoid. Never had she thrashed an opponent with this much distance before.

Briefly, the ground changed, the track had some construction ongoing and the gravel had spilt onto the track, she swerved past this momentarily. It cost her some fluidity to her pacing, her shift in momentum caused her to lose some ground. She looked back and Roy was barely visible in the dust that she had kicked up, but still a comfortable distance away for her to continue on the less aggressive pace. She needed some in the tank if she needed it for later.
