Hey Zach,

Tim's out of town, he went to PyCon in Chicago. I'm hoping the next
python group meeting has some good bits about the conference.

I don't have anything to present; does anyone else? Sean, were you
planning on presenting something tonight?

I don't have anything prepared, just got back from Seattle today. I'll prep something for next time we meet, but am out of the running for this meeting.

cheers,
Shaun

I would be up for playing with AppEngine, if anybody has any experience with it.

Or reconvene May 6?

I just got an invitation to a beach bbq.  See you in May!  (Or next week at sbonrails, or the week after at SBiPhoneDev.)

May sounds like a better time to meet up.

See you all next month,

Hi everyone:

Where do you guys meet? Mind if a newcomer shows up this time or next?

I live in SB and have just started learning Python. I thought it might
be cool to find some fellow geeks and learn what I can from some
skilled programmers, if possible. I've taken a couple classes on C and
Java but I hadn't gotten _that_ inspired to become a great coder till
just recently. I've been more of a networking/security/Linux guy but I
want to give web dev a go and try to make the most fun and useful apps
I can out of Python + ajax/js, perhaps using Django and/or jQuery and/
or Pyjamas in the process. We'll see! (It's hard not to get excited by
the possibilities, ya know?)

Are most of you UCSB students? SBCC? I did Math and Philosophy for 4
years at the UC and I'm finishing my last GE at the city college. I've
been into computers for a long time though--been using Linux for over
7 years now, since 10th grade. /freakinautobiography

Lastly, what do you do at the meetings? Thanks!

Steve, welcome to the group.

We do all sorts of things at the meetings. You should check out the
May meeting. Looks like April is kaput.

We cover all things Python related, everything from basic syntax/best
practices/philosophy on up to specific libraries and how to use them.
Word on the street is that Roberto will be discussing compiler design
next month.

I am a Python neophyte, so you won't be alone.

Cheers,
Zach
