Not recently. There are a couple of programming groups in town that
you might check out instead --

1. santa barbara hacknight organized by Colin Curtin (colin.t.curtin on gmail)

Sam (and anyone else on this mailing list!),

I'm a fellow Python programmer who was looking to find local tech geeks like myself, meet up, and learn through doing... so I co-founded Santa Barbara Hackerspace in August.  We meet Saturdays @ 11am in Goleta (map).  Our current primary project is an Underwater ROV, and we're about to start making ad-supported Android apps so we can raise enough money for permanent space.  A couple of us are currently learning about AI, and learning Clojure (in all its Lisp-y grandeur) to use it in Google's AI competition next month.  (I still do mostly Django stuff, but Clojure and Go are awesome languages I'm experimenting with.)

We're in IRC all the time (including now) and have official virtual meetings there Wednesdays @ 8pm.  To receive our email announcements and participate in discussions, please join our Google Group/mailing list at http://gg.sbhackerspace.com.
