Get ready for the next Eat Local Challenge this October. In
conjunction with epicure.sb, we are once again encouraging an entire
month of eating local food.

Here's How It Works
Make a personal pledge to eat only local foods from Oct 1-31st. You
can choose whether the food is produced within a 100 or 150 mile
radius, or Santa Barbara County or the tri-county region or even the
state of California. You might decide to eat only produce that is
grown in Santa Barbara County, but dairy, meat and other food products
might come from within 150 miles or elsewhere in California. You can
also choose to have exceptions that you will not be eating locally
(i.e. tea or spices). Or you can choose food products like tea or
spices that are packaged by local companies. The important thing is to
benefit from the experience of joining with your community to eat
locally produced food.

How Can Find Local Food? How Do I Get Started?
You can find lots of resources right here in this group. In addition,
information will be provided at the Farmers Markets and on
ediblesantabarbara.com.

And please read Janice Cook Knight's article on the Eat Local
Challenge for more inspiration:

We also invite you to come out and visit us at the second annual SOL
Food Festival on October 1, which will celebrate Sustainable, Organic
and Local food. The entire month of October we will be celebrating
food as part of epicure.sb, and I encourage everyone to take part in
the many festivities that will be happening throughout Santa Barbara.

Enjoy,
-Krista
