For Distribution to SAYMA Friends Meetings

Dear SAYMA Earthcare Representative,

This is the first official request from the newly renamed SAYMA Earthcare Action Network (formerly the Ecological Concerns Network). We ask that you distribute the following two items to members of your Friends Meeting. We would be delighted if your Meeting would discuss them at Meeting for Worship with Attention to Business soon as well!

1. For Peace on Earth and Unity with Creation: Recommendations for all Friends. This document, created by the Quaker Earthcare Witness Sustainability, Faith and Action Committee and endorsed by SAYMA's Earthcare Action Network, recommends actions that Meetings can take in several areas, from greening the Meetinghouse & grounds to investments that reflect Friends values. I have inserted links to some resources you might find helpful in green italics.

2. Quaker Earthcare Witness (QEW) Mini-Grants. QEW offers support for your project ideas and energies through its Mini-Grants Program! They will match funds up to $350, so if your project budget is $700 and your Meeting is able to raise $350, you can apply to have those funds matched in order to bring the total to $700.  QEW is accepting applications for Friends projects which:

• Improve your immediate environment
• Involve, inform, and educate members young, old and in between
• May reduce carbon footprints
• Create opportunities to improve and learn about your own local ecosystems
• Enrich your local community
• Set examples and inspiration for others
• Provide spirit-led, meaningful work and create fun for all participants
