Dear all,
Some members with experience in telemetry collaring in wild felids might be able to assist with the survey below:
“I am conducting a research project, Comparative Assessment of Telemetry Collaring and Welfare Indicators for Wild Felids, that aims to examine the ethical and welfare considerations associated with telemetry collaring in wild felids. While telemetry remains a fundamental tool in conservation science, increasing evidence from biologging research suggests that widely applied guidelines may not always account for species-specific or context-dependent welfare impacts.
This project explores how collar design, deployment protocols, and post-release monitoring practices may influence animal wellbeing. By combining insights from published literature with the perspectives of researchers and field professionals, the study aims to strengthen transparency, consistency, and welfare-informed standards in wild felid telemetry.
Given your experience in this field, I would be very grateful if you could share your perspective through a short survey. Your input will help inform a clearer evidence base to support both effective conservation research and responsible wildlife research practices.
You can find the survey at this link: Comparative Assessment of Telemetry Collaring and Welfare Indicators for Wild Felids – Fill out form
If possible, I would also greatly appreciate it if you could share the survey with colleagues or other professionals who may have relevant experience.
Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
