Dear SAWMA members,

On 16 March, Prof. BE Nzimande, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, published the Natural Scientific Professions Bill in Government Gazette No. 7235 for public comment and consultation. SAWMA, as a registered Voluntary Association, plans to submit a combined response to the document. Therefore, SAWMA members affected by this are encouraged to send their comments to the SAWMA council by replying to this email by 20 April 2026. Your input will then be part of SAWMA’s feedback to the Dept of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The normal format for commenting on any legislative documents is a table with the following columns:

1. Section or line in the Bill referred to

2. Concern with the section

3. Recommendation on how to improve the section or delete the section

Please submit your comments in the format above so we can consolidate all feedback.
