Wild Futures: Small Conservation Grants accepting applications

Application deadline: May 15

The Indianapolis Zoo is excited to announce the second year of the Wild Futures: Small Conservation Grants. The Indianapolis Zoo recognizes the value that smaller grants can bring to conservationists. The Wild Futures grants also aim to support students and early career professionals with projects that further conservation.

Interested participants can submit an expression of interest application. Additional information will be requested for those selected to move forward in the grant process.

Wild Futures awards up to $5,000 to projects from any part of the conservation process, from species discovery or rediscovery to species assessment, planning and action, as well as communication and networking.

Deadline

The deadline to apply is May 15, 2026, at 11:59pm ET.

Applications must be submitted through the Zoo's new field conservation grants portal: YourCause from Blackbaud.

Who can apply

These one-time awards are open to all applicants affiliated with a non-profit, government agency, university or a foreign not-for-profit equivalent. The Zoo does not offer conservation grants to unaffiliated individuals.

New this year: Field Conservation Grants Portal

As of May 2026, the Indianapolis Zoo adopted a new grants portal for all of its Field Conservation Grants. All applicants must apply through this new portal moving forward.

Indianapolis Zoo's new grants management system is YourCause from Blackbaud.

The new portal includes helpful features that will improve the overall grantee and applicant experience. All applicants must apply through this new portal and are required to sign in with a new Blackbaud ID (i.e., new login information), or may use an existing Blackbaud ID if they use other Blackbaud products (e.g., certain organizations might already have an active Blackbaud ID).
