I love the app so far.  Great job.

Any plans to add payee and category autocomplete for transaction entry?

Yes, that's in the plan definitely. Payee completion will probably be done first, because it's something I want very much for myself.

Great.  I don't mind typing payee out, but there is a risk of misspelling.  :)

Yeah, that's the reason why I want payee completion so badly myself. It really will save lots of time too.

We just purchased the app. Great job. I see that an auto-complete for Payees (recognizing past payees) was in development back in January 2011. Any update on this? Its still not in the program.

It's not yet done, but I will get to it. Thanks for being patient.

Truth is, I can no longer work on Savings full-time, for economic reasons. I can only work on Savings in the spare time that I have from other work that I do in order to make a living. Nonetheless, I will finish what I promised to do, it's just a matter of time.

I appreciate you guys for sticking around. You are the encouragement that keeps me going.

Yi, to be honest your comment makes me nervous about the future of Savings.

Hi Brad,

Savings will not be abandoned, I am still making good progress on completing the iPhone app, as well as other requested features. It is still a big focus of my day.

But I also have to face the reality that Savings generates very little revenue. Let's just say if I only work on Savings this month, food is the only thing I can afford.

So, to survive, I have to do other things. I have worked out a way to survive, and still be able to work on Savings until it fulfills its promise. By then, the economic situation may change.

I made a promise to my users, and the promise will be kept. I will not abandoned my users when the going gets tough. Progress may be slow, but we will get there. That's the most I can do.

Thanks for the response Yi.  Maybe this is the case with other software I like, and I just don't know it.  Once the iPhone app is ready, I'd raise the Mac app price and try to get some press on macstories.net, daring fireball, TUAW, etc.  That should help.  :)

Thanks, I will check these sites out. Yeah, I think many people who buy apps these days aren't aware of the economics behind it. Some apps are cheap to build but popular, some are the opposite. Savings falls in the latter camp. Making money isn't the reason I build this, but it is important to me that the product stays alive. I hate seeing apps get abandoned because developers got "acquired".

iPhone UI is coming along. iCloud still sucks though, all developers who worked who iCloud and database-based apps know. Hopefully by the time iPhone UI is done, iCloud will be fixed. If not, I have to go some other route for syncing.
